First of all it's a nice resort, with two big pools, movie and concert nights, free popcorn, a little playground, lawn games, and bbqs (gas grills) free to use. It's close to a nice supermarket, and Congdons (breakfast, lunch, and after dark food trucks). If you don't mind waiting for a trolley, it takes you to the decent wells beach. The 2BR has a nicely stuffed kitchen, two double, and one queensized bed...
One star off because, when we arrived with a baby and a toddler, after a long journey, we were kind of shocked to learn that our apartment would be on the second floor, very fun with two strollers. We adapted to that situation, but it would have been nice if we would have known in advance that all 2BRs are located upstairs. On our arrival the girl at the reception was like well all our 2BRs are on the 2nd floor, in a way that felt very unfriendly. We were tired and shocked, I know she couldn't change the facts, but I would have expected more of a 'if you need a hand let us know' response. The rest of the time the staff was helpful and nice.
When we entered the apartment we got the second shock, nowhere did we see a steep staircase on the photos of the rooms. It was a large and spacious apartment, but with two young kids and no child safety doors it wasn't putting us at ease with the situation. Our toddler managed to fall down half of the stairs only once during our whole trip, so everything's good.
The rooms were fine, the beds on the softer side, and it would be good if somebody would vacuum under the beds as well every once in a while (lots of dust flakes, not so fun when you're retrieving a little car toy from under the bed).
The other guests in the resort were friendly, they're some permanent residents who were very nice.
If you want to stay in Wells, we can recommend the place, but with kids, I'd prefer to stay closer to the ogunquit beach, which has so much more to offer with the lazy river, and the open sea side, than...
Read moreOur experience at Elmwood Resort Hotel in Wells was incredibly disappointing. What should have been a relaxing Saturday night stay turned into a nightmarish ordeal due to poor management and customer service.
We booked a room through the hotel's official, verified Google link and received a confirmation email with no mention of check-in restrictions. Upon arrival, we found no staff available. After failed attempts to reach someone via the listed number, we eventually found an emergency contact.
When a staff member arrived, they unhelpfully informed us that no rooms were available, despite our confirmation. They insisted we had booked through "Booking.com" when we had used their official site. Both this staff member and the General Manager refused to acknowledge the inconvenience or offer solutions.
The hotel's handling of the situation was appalling. There was no accountability for their booking system error, no assistance in finding alternative accommodations, and a dismissive attitude towards us as stranded guests. Instead of addressing the issue, they focused on deflecting blame, making us feel at fault for booking with them.
This experience revealed a severe lack of professionalism and customer care. The staff's unwillingness to take responsibility or provide meaningful assistance left us feeling abandoned. They retreated to their rooms, leaving us literally in the dark rather than helping us find another place to stay.
I strongly advise potential guests to reconsider staying at Elmwood Resort Hotel. Their complete disregard for customer satisfaction and basic hospitality standards makes this an utterly unacceptable lodging experience. Travelers deserve better than to be left stranded due to a hotel's errors and...
Read moreFor a budget condo, the accommodations were fine. Some of the dishes/utensils needed to be washed by hand. It’s not the most updated interior design, but - for the price - it was perfectly fine. When we arrived, our check-in was delayed by half an hour because maintenance was installing a new ceiling fan. After traveling for a few hours, this was slightly annoying.|| However, the reason I am rating it a 2 is:||• After spending a day at the beach, we arrived back at the unit and someone had clearly entered the unit and opened the electric box and left a screwdriver on a living room chair. ||•When I spoke to the manager, he argued with me for 10 minutes about this issue. He said the maintenance worker told us he would be back the next day. He did not! The manager did not offer any courtesy or apology. He told me this was the “hotel industry” - even though I have stayed all over the world and have never had this issue occur before. Furthermore, the manager expressed that it was our fault for the maintenance worker coming when we were not present because there was no “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. Subsequently, we looked everywhere and found no such sign.||I would not stay here again. I don’t feel I could trust this management and maintenance. All of our belongings were strewn, and this hotel management allows people to just come into your unit without warning. I don’t recommend this hotel, as it was not a safe or...
