The staff was friendly and attentive. The cottage was clean and had everything you could need in the kitchen area except the food. Although it doesn't have much seating inside, the screened porch has a table for eating at and rocking chairs for relaxing. Cottage #4 is far enough from the road that no matter the traffic on Route 1 it's quiet inside. There are plenty of outlets for charging devices, including an outlet on the porch.

We loved our experience at Carriage house. I surprised my family with a quick trip to Wells for the weekend. When we arrived the staff moved us to a larger unit (#9) and it made it very special. We had plenty of space for 4 and the extra bathroom was key. My kids loved the pool and the games. We hope to make this a tradition.

I went to my grandson's wedding the room was pet friendly so I took my dog mind you he's 130lbs an Alaskan Malamute. All the staff and workers were great and friendly. Rooms were immaculate plenty of room. Had a 3pm check in time they called me at noon that my room was ready.

There's good and there's bad with this place. The location couldn't be better and the price was very reasonable. The kitchen area is pretty nice for a family. There's a mirror over the kitchen sink; you basically get 2 sinks with a mirror so you're not fighting over the bathroom. The room is very sparsely decorated, which doesn't really matter to me but it wouldn't take much to make it nicer. The bedroom and kitchen area seemed very clean. The bathroom was clean other than the toilet where the scrub brush had clearly missed some spots, but it was in the bowl so it doesn't matter. I never met anyone who worked there because I received a code via email to enter the room. It was extremely convenient and the parking was good. From the outside , this is a cute little place. Another big plus for me , is being able to get the room cold at night to sleep, and I had no problem with that at this place. The big problem was the smell of the room.I don't know if it just needed to be seriously aired out or what the problem was, but it was bad. I stayed there 3 nights at the beginning of a 2 week trip and the smell was so bad that I would not bring my luggage or clothes into the room because I didn't want everything to stink for the rest of the trip. I bought Febreeze which helped a little bit. It was bad. I do have a really sensitive nose, but I have never had to leave my luggage out of a hotel room because of the smell. I don't think I would normally even mention things like the toilet not being clean or the lack of decor but the smell was so bad that it just amplified any other minor problems. It was a very uncomfortable stay because of the smell. The shower was also a bit of a pain because it wouldn't fully go to shower. So a lot of the water came out of the faucet and filled up the tub. Basically , I was taking a shower in ankle deep water. Again, not that big of a deal if I weren't already irritated over...

New Year’s Eve Disaster This was a crushing nightmare. On November 11th, we made reservations to stay here on New Year’s Eve. A few days later, the total amount due was deducted from our account. We had big, exciting plans for attending an exciting New Year’s Eve party. Since we live in NH, we made the reservation so that we would not be driving late at night on a holiday. Well, we NEVER were able to make it to the party. Just as we were leaving NH, we were informed that our reservations of over a month ago were CANCELLED! We were told it was a “glitch” in the system. Not even a phone call, an email! When the owner told us it was only a seasonal motel, I said then why the hell did you accept my reservation and take my money, in November, when you obviously were not going to honor it! (And, when I made the reservation, the website did NOT say it was seasonal. Now it does.) How do you justify that!! We were, and still are, crushed. There were no rooms, anywhere close, that we could afford. He kept saying “sorry for the inconvenience.” Seriously? Our plans, so carefully made, that we were so excited about, were ruined by your supposed “glitch!” And, you call it an “inconvenience!” Then we were offered a 10% discount of a future stay. Are you kidding me. For all the emotional distress this caused us, not even a stupid free night, only 10%. Totally disgusted. Never, ever...
