Very bad, Friday night decided to take my wife and daughter out for dinner, they chose Fire (which we visit at least twice a month) they were busy, and I do not think they are prepared for a busy night, at least not for that specific night, after we got a table, our server was kind and friendly, we got water, menu and everything was going well, asked for a beer (Stella Artois) and proscuitto crudo as appetizer, that's when everything started. Before the beer was served on a larger glass, now the price is the same but the glass is smaller! if your beer cost is up, increase the price! but DO NOT cheat people, is way better to pay a little more for the same size than the same price for a small glass! Appetizer, exactly the same, before you had a reasonable amount of cheese, proscuitto, pesto and bread, now the plate is significantly smaller, again, if you need to increase your prize, do it, but do not make your portions smaller. My daughter ordered a salad, my wife pizza and myself the special of the day, chicken pasta. did not mind the wait as we knew they were busy, after a while, salad and pasta came up, not pizza (still in the oven) we waited for a long while before pizza came out. At that time I looked at my daughter's salad, BUGS on it! I called the server, oh my god! she said, they look bad! (yes they did) she removed the plate and apologize for what happened, salad had walnuts on top, my guess, bugs were in the walnut's jar (maybe) my daughter did not want salad anymore, but we were never asked if bringing another salad was OK or not, she just came out with a, different salad? I asked my child not to eat it, but she said it was fine because she did not want to be embarrassed, after all, people now is looking at us. by now I start eating my cold salad, no flavor at all, seamed like somebody just boiled spaghetti and put it on top of the chicken (which was also really bad, breaded and fried, no flavor at all) no sauce, nothing! Then, my wife's pizza shows up, (or what it looked like pizza) we never asked for BLACK pizza! but we got it :) all edge around the pizza was burnt, I mean BLACK! of course my wife did not want me to complain (our goal was to enjoy the night) so I kept my mouth shut. I was never asked if I wanted something else instead of salad, (after the BUGS remember) my pasta was horrible and we got burned pizza. (without mention the smaller beer and appetizer) my bill comes up, and everything was included, I paid $80.00 (tip included) for a terrible dinner and experience all the way around. I was not, and I am NOT, expecting to get refunded or anything like that, but I wrote a note on my bill, including my email and so far nobody has contacted me to AT LEAST say, we are sorry for what happened, please come again and give us the opportunity to prove you we are a great restaurant. some times people...
Read moreI'm not sure what has happened to Fire... I ate there yesterday with my girlfriend, her kids, and her sister and all of us were disappointed with the food and the service. And the thing is that this is the second time in a row I've been disappointed. The last time I ate there was before the quarantine and got the chef's special pizza. It was disappointing, but it used to always be amazing. I know chef Michael left so maybe that is the difference. This time my girlfriend and I ordered the Ham, Fig, and Goat pizza. I've had it before and it was amazing. Yesterday, it was dry, flavorless, difficult to choke down. For a $15 pizza, the food cost must have only been 32 cents or so. The 5-year-old got the spaghetti off the kids' menu and wouldn't eat it. It's usually not difficult to get a 5-year-old (especially this one) to eat spaghetti, but she wouldn't touch it. My girlfriend tasted it, and it was completely flavorless. On the plus side, the antipasti salad was good.
So that brings me to the service. I personally didn't notice a snotty attitude from the server, but my girlfriend and her sister kept getting a snotty attitude from her -- to the point where they asked me to ask her for everything because the server seemed to be more pleasant and compliant if I asked for it. The server would deliver the dish and walk away immediately. Not asking if we needed anything. We had to ask for extra sharing plates, for the pizza we ordered, straws for our waters, pepper for the table, an extra fork for the 5 year old (which never arrived) and never once did we receive a water refill, or asked if we even enjoyed our food. When my girlfriend asked if we could get our salad split since we were sharing it, the server looked at her and said “yeah” as if she was annoyed with the question.
With the price of our dining experience, paired with the subpar quality food and very below average service… the value was just no there. Very disappointing. We will not be back and will no longer be able to recommend Fire to others.
This last point may not be usual for a restaurant review, but it does play into our decision to no longer eat there. We often hearing around town how badly employees are treated by management at the Viscontis restaurants. This is hearsay, but the themes are consistent and it is always off-putting when you hear that a company doesn’t treat...
Read moreYo, this restaurant is FIRE! Literally!
Having just discovered it for the first time last Christmas, my wife and I have slowly been trying out all of the restaurants at the Pybus Public Market, one at at time. This year, FIRE was up to bat, and they hit it out of the park. In fact, our visit was so nice, we dined here twice...in the same day (although the second time was because our friends had just arrived in town a few hours later, and FIRE was their choice as well, so we joined them, despite having just been here ourselves a few hours before)!
Leveraging our newly-acquired expertise, we were able to guide our friends to many of the same dishes that we had enjoyed just prior, particularly in regards to the build-your-own charcuterie board, where we had fallen in love with several of its savory selections: the Hungarian salami, smoked cheddar, cambozola, bread EVOO & balsamic, deviled eggs, and roasted garlic buds. We were also able to give them a little insight about the pizzas, of which our littles had ordered smaller versions from the kids' menu. Many of these items made a return appearance on our second visit, specifically the cambozola, smoked cheddar, and the Hungarian salami, the last of which we would end up purchasing from FIRE's associated delicatessen in Leavenworth, "Cured", both of which are owned by Visconti's Italian restaurant, also in Leavenworth...and the best Italian restaurant in Chelan county, in our opinion.
Excellent service, impeccable food, and a warm, charming, welcoming and casual aesthetic, FIRE lives up to its name in all regards! Some of the items on the charcuterie board are a bit pricey for the quantity received, which is the only reason I am knocking them down a star, because based on quality, this place, like all businesses owned and operated by Visconti, is easily worthy of five stars in all other regards. So far, FIRE is the best restaurant we have had the pleasure of experiencing at the Pybus Public Market, and it will be a difficult challenge for any other restaurant to change our minds, on our...
