Popped in on the 4th of July for a quick bite to go.
They were pretty much packed up and ready to go sell at the market, but they still made our lunch no problem!
I've had the original Döner Haus back in the early 2000s and while this looks close it is not the same.
I ordered the Dürüm; the meat is missing a lot of flavor, the feta was too little for my taste, the pickled veggies were too much, all inside not flatbread but a Panini pressed flour tortilla. Still a good lunch, but not quite what I was anticipating.
The fries were okay, but I never got my soda for my combo (I wanted tea but was told they were draining it)..and I forgot to ask before leaving.
All in all an okay stop for a quick bite, but overall not my favorite.
*Update: Oh that's unfortunate, a rude sarcastic reply.
Yes, I am familiar with the difference between a tortilla and flatbread. They are very different. I have had both from the cultures they originate. I also worked in the food service industry for many years.
The toppings do not make a Döner, the slow roasted well seasoned meat does, the toppings are just added perks. This does not represent the tender deeply seasoned meat that is the whole of this type of sandwich.
So due to the owners response (Not Service) I've reduced my review to 2 stars.
The original Döner that I had came out of the Clark County, WA area in the early 2000s. Last summer I came across a food truck in Portland with an almost perfect dupe to the original...
Read moreWe wanted to try this new restaurant after reading the story about them going from a fair food truck to owning a restaurant in the Wenatchee World Business Journal. We own a small business in Leavenworth and want to support small business when we can. We arrived at 11:30 so it wasn't busy. As another review indicated they are not very welcoming and we experienced this as well. They never addressed or welcomed us when we came in. We assumed you ordered at the counter from the menu on the wall and chose your own table. After ordering there was no interaction with the personnel at all except when they called our name when the food was done. No one asks you if everything is ok even when passing by your table. You get your own water out of a cooler, napkins etc and bus your own table. As for the food, it was ok. We ordered the plate so it was everything you get with the sandwich except for the bread. The meat was a good flavor but was thin and a bit dry, so having a lot of the sauce (very good sauce) was a must. I didn't eat the salad as the lettuce had turned orange. When we left they just watched us walk out without a word even though they weren't handling customers or food prep. Just felt like we were ordering from a fair food truck but with...
Read moreI tried a "durum" which is advertised as a flatbread wrap, but it's just a generic tortilla. I was expecting something slightly thicker and more interesting. The picture on the website makes it look fresh grilled but it was most definitely not. Meat and veggie portions in both wraps were pretty skimpy for the $15 price. The "haus sauce" was like a watery ranch. I might try a "donor" sandwich some other time before writing them off all together but this wasn't a great first meal here.
UPDATE: The restaurant chose to respond to this review in the tone of an angry teenager so i just want to clarify a few things. I did not order this with lettuce and tomato only as suggested, it also had cucumber, onion, cabbage slaw and cheddar.... just a very skimpy amount of each obviously. Even if i did only want lettuce and tomato though, it would be reasonable to expect a larger portion of just those two toppings to fill the void. Also, the argument that a tortilla is technically a type of flatbread is valid but i still expected a lavash-type of leavened flatbread not a chewy generic tortilla. My mistake for thinking it would be a fresh and authentic...
