Such a great addition to Wenatchee, after Yogi Grind closed this town has been hurting for a coffee shop. With such an expansive space - large tables available for reservation, an assortment of kitschy-yet-European-Chic table & chair separates, replete with fireplace seating upstairs.. such an aesthetically pleasing cafe.
What made our visit truly special was the service, however. The staff knocked it out of the park for my family yesterday. There were about 20/ 25 people in the space (I’m assuming 11am early lunch rush) - and I saw just two baristas taking orders, making coffee, serving & bussing tables. Hannah really personalized our experience, and it was apparent that she & her co-worker Bailee were friends & loved working there - and it shows. When food and coffee are served with loving intention, humor, camaraderie, and true hospitality, it’s something really special to witness and experience. This establishment is so lucky to have staff like this!
The prices were on par or less than Starbucks, and far superior coffee. Hannah made a true Italian macchiato, ($5)- unheard of in Wenatchee before Zebra. My partner’s white choc mocha ($7.25 vs Starbucks: $8.85) was the best he’s ever had. We felt these prices were totally reasonable (and less expensive overall) considering this is a small family-owned business, not a commodified corporation like S’bucks. Of course, the more you customize your coffee drink, the pricier it gets. We ordered the avocado toast & the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. I also decided to try the freshly baked pear-tahini cake per staff encouragement. Excellent.
I don’t know what happened that spurred all of those negative reviews; my family’s experience was the polar opposite of those. I did not speak to the owner, but I did watch a blonde woman w/ European accent laughing & hugging the girls on staff. This cafe just seems to be overflowing with joy & community. For those who had a bad experience, give it another shot. There’s just no way those reviews reflect reality after our visit yesterday. Maybe something magical changed; or maybe just...

*I see your reply, but frankly, it's disheartening to learn that none of the concerns raised have been rectified. It has been 3 weeks since you responded and even more reviews are flooding in. Opening a new business comes with its hurdles, but neglecting customer feedback isn't an excuse. While I might consider giving your establishment another chance, it's going to take a lot more than hopeful promises to win back my trust. *
I never write reviews, but my recent experience at Zebra Brasserie compelled me to share my thoughts. The coffee and service were absolutely amazing. However, during my visit, I encountered something quite troubling. There was this older lady with a thick accent who treated the workers terribly. It felt like she was talking down to them, almost like they were little kids. Her face had a really mean look, and it made the atmosphere uncomfortable.
I understand that it's a new place, and everyone is still learning, but the way she behaved wasn't right. It surprised me that she's still working there with that attitude. It's disappointing because the place itself is beautiful, but her behavior ruined the experience for me.
I won't be going back there anytime soon. It's a shame because I really liked the ambiance of the place. I hope they address these issues so that everyone can feel comfortable...
Read moreNot perfect. My husband ordered an avocado toast. I ordered a scramble and toast. When we got to our table, two pastries were waiting in addition to our order. We told our server, that we didn't order these. She checked the register and said our full order was there. We didn't order the items, we'd heard each other, but didn't want to argue. The fellow who took the order heard us discussing what we "might" like and must have added them. Later, I saw him running around trying to figure out who had a plate of food sitting on the counter. He looked through all the receipts, look at different tables, went upstairs, and finally came back down with the plate. Then, he found the right table up front. He also forgot her coffee. I figure he was new. What bothered me was our server, she didn't believe us, and brought too much to eat. As far as the food: not perfect. The blueberry ricotta cake dusted with powdered sugar, was smothered with raspberries and whip cream which made no sense. No one mentioned it would come this way. My scrambled eggs with peppers and red onions would have been good, but the red onions weren't fully cooked and intruded on the dish. Our server returned and asked for clarification on my husband's ordered. I don't think it was on the original order. I should have asked for the receipt,...
