A brand new place to me and recommended by several others within friends to try out tonight, but unfortunately it seemed as a bad idea from the start. The staff were very friendly and polite, but what I look forward most in restaurant customer service is "honesty" , I looked through the menu and found several items that did catch my eye but when the crave for a good Mexican style dish comes to mind it has to come with Mexican flour tortillas. My question to the waiter was "are the tortillas homemade or store bought" and she replied and informed me that they are homemade so I believed her and thanked her with excitement . When I received my plate of a Mexican synchronizada with extra cheese and extra fajita, I was very disappointed to quickly realize that the tortillas we're not fresh nor were they homemade the flour tortilla is store bought style and I felt upset... When I took a bite of my humongous taco , the fajita was so rubbery and hard to chew on, and it tasted as if it was in the fridge and it was taken out and reheated on the pan and stuffed in the taco and then served. The avocado was stiff , the rice was very dry like if it was microwaved and the beans too were very dry and no flavor. I did not finish my plate due to the fact that I expected a homemade fresh tortilla and my hunger went for a vacation, if the tortillas aren't homemade don't lie to sell the plate, be honest and make sure I leave with a smile and come back for more... We also ordered two steaks, one rib eye steak and one t bone steak , both high priced plates, the waiter asked how would we want them cooked and we said medium rare, but once we received our steaks they were over cooked and no where near looking like high priced steaks. The meat looked as if they went by to the nearest HEB and bought meat packets and over cooked them and tried to pass them on as steaks. If we wanted a no fat trimmed thin steaks from HEB I could've gotten it myself and made it at home on my own. The rib eye steak came with fried shrimp but the shrimp too was a disappointment because it was mostly breading on a small little shrimp tail and I took a picture just for my viewers to see in my reviews. The bill came out to a $50+ bill for food below the expectation , if your looking for a Mexican restaurant that backs up it's Mexican Style tradition , this place isn't it and I'm still hungry but I guess it's KFC again for me tonight...what a shame for my first and last time coming here...I'm sorry. Two stars for the soda and chips...
Read moreCame here on the recommendation of a friend, and so glad we did! Started iff with complimentary chips and salsa. Salsa was different than we've had but really liked it. Ordered a Montyerey Melt, with fries and onion rings and the special Mexican plate. That plate comes with a couple of beef or chicken enchiladas, a taco, rice, beans, and a choice of chicken fried steak or two pieces of fried chicken. Different combinations, but I guess that's considered Tex-Mex? Whatever, the chicken fried steak was delicious, smothered in white gravy. The Mexican food was good, but we would have liked some sauce for a little extra flavoring. Now for the Monterey Melt - absolutely delicious! It has two enormous patties of well-seasoned ground beef, covered with melted Swiss cheese and grilled onions. Mmmm! Nicely toasted bread for the bun, and I was set for the night and for lunch the next day! Homemade onion rings and fresh French fries to die for. Our servers were excellent, even offering me a to-go cup of ice tea! Love this place and will...
Read moreVery disappointed with the food and that we drove from McAllen for nothing. It appeared that they had deep fried chicken fried steaks ahead of time and that they were just adding the gravy on top as the orders came in. Mine was soggy and room temperature at best. The only thing that was hot was the gravy. Now, my wife's chicken fried chicken was just as bad. When she cut into it, all this oil spilled out of it. It was soaked with oil. The server called the person in charge to show her the plates that the kitchen had put out. She appeared to be upset because we complained about the awful food. The sad part is that this place is known for serving great chicken fried steaks and chicken fried chicken along with their famous rolls. The server was embarrassed about the food that was put out, and she still kept trying to provide good service. I guess the cooks and the person in charge were...
