We have been searching for a brunch place in Wesley Chapel, and saw First Watch was recommended. The first two times we tried to go, the line stretched out the door and we didn't even attempt to go in. This time, we decided we were going to see whether the wait was justified. We were told it would be a 35-40 minute wait (Monday at 10:35 AM). We waited for 45 minutes, and while there learned that there was an app where you can put yourself on the waiting list -- definitely recommend for next time. When we were seated, it took 10 minutes for a server to greet us (I timed it). From walking into the restaurant to leaving, we were there for almost two hours.
The service was okay. Servers always say "no rush" when they leave a check at your table, but it seems hollow when you leave a check when one of the people at the table still has half a meal left. I felt completely rushed.
But we ultimately came for the food, so we wanted to give the meal a fair shot. I ordered a $3.79 horchata, which was worth about $1.50. My SO ordered a sweet tea which was watered down. The best part of the meal was, by far, the toast. It was quite good. I found the potatoes to be underseasoned and my dish (farmhouse skillet) was generally lacking in flavor. My over-medium eggs were basically hard-boiled. My SO ordered an omelette which was good, but not great. The food is reasonably priced for the portion size, but the drinks are ridiculous.
All in all, we were underwhelmed, and I think the lack of good brunch options around Wesley Chapel has a lot to do with how busy this place is. As nice as it is to have someone else cook brunch for you, I think we'll stick to making it ourselves until somewhere else good pops up. To be fair, had we used the waiting app, we may have had a more pleasant experience. However, the 10-minute wait between being seated and greeted by our server was unacceptable, even for two people who don't really care that much about the...
Read moreThis is a service only review since we did not get to the point of dining. On Saturday December 9th I met a friend and his wife at First Watch Wesley Chapel. My friend is a disabled Army veteran that uses a powered scooter. The 3 ladies on staff seemed illprepared to deal with a customer on a scooter or wheelchair since they mostly told us where he could not sit, and were visibly frustrated by his requests for using a booth. It came across as if they were not use to accommodating someone in his position. At minimum he should have been made to feel welcomed. He is retired and visits many restaurants on a regular basis while never being treated as a burden. After determining he would sit at a table near the front window his mood was so spoiled such that he decided to leave. The staff's response to this was not one of regret and or any attempt to comfort him to stay. They instead seemed rather relieved. During the time they looked at me and his wife in an unspoken gesture for help. My impression is they believed his condition was beyond physical. It is not! My friend is an intelligent 100% mentally capable person that was simply trying to sit where he knows it works best for his safety and ability to easily transition to the seating. Essentially he is versed at dining out and navigating the physical aspects of venues. We fully understand not blocking the general paths of others and staff's ability to perform service. The problem is how it was handled like a bother, unaccomidating and not customer service oriented. We went over to Kekes and were accommodated with a booth without fanfare. Please consider educating staff in handling...
Read moreAppalled by what they tried to send me home with. Ordered breakfast tacos online for pickup. They were for my wife who’s a vegetarian so I removed all the meat and eggs and added mushrooms, red peppers, and onions. Each add on was $.99. I also included in the notes to add zucchini and any other veggies they thought of. This brought a $12 taco plat to over $15.
While it’s no big deal that they charge me an extra three bucks to remove the highest food cost and add the cheapest, it’s infuriating when I dig out the tacos to see them so scantily filled with so few items. The hostess asked me if everything was alright so I showed her and asked if it looked appetizing to her. She was shocked herself and immediately apologized.
After asking to have them remade, I now have to wonder if there’s spit in our food. I never complain about food and typically take whatever I’m served, but this kind of thing has got to stop.
I only wish I took a picture to show how pathetic of a sight these tacos were. This is not the only time either. Last time I got home before seeing the food and was just as disappointed. I figured I’d give them another chance.
I’m changing a review from five years ago from a 5 star to 1. This location has gone drastically down hill and it’s grossly apparent that the want to satisfy the customer is completely gone. I will never visit this location again. Zero quality control.
First Watch in general has gone way down hill over the years. Sorry to say it too because I really liked this place and supported them a ton for a very long time. Bye-bye...
