It's a very tasty lunch option when shopping in Wesley Chapel/New Tampa. Don't pass this one up if you love crispy Korean fried chicken.
It's in the Shoppes at New Tampa off of Bruce B. Downs Blvd. There's plenty of parking despite being so close to Publix. The seating area inside is somewhat limited. The plushies around the counter are cute. They have boba drinks. I didn't get to try any of them.
It's known more for the KFC, but it was the japchae that was the star of the show. I ordered it with bulgogi. Best decision ever! It was loaded with veggies & meat. I've only had japchae 3 times at other Korean restaurants in the bay area. This one is my favorite (by far). I'd go back just for this dish.
The soy garlic fried chicken strips were good. I got the lunch special. I love that it's so crispy. The crispiest I've had in the area. Just choose wisely on the type of chicken. I usually get wings or drumsticks. The strips are white meat chicken, and somewhat dry. Maybe because it's double-fried white meat. That's the only negative. I would get the same flavor again, but in a different form. The French fries were great.
The service was excellent! We were greeted right away and offered a menu. The menu has too many items to list, and many that I want to try next time. The portion sizes are very generous. The prices are affordable. I wish we had a place like...
Read moreI had order in store and carried out. I ordered the chicken sandwich with fries and 8pc sweet chili chicken wings with fried rice. I ate the chicken sandwich, to be honest it wasn't good. It had 2 small pieces of fried chicken. The chicken tasted like it was deep fried to long or if I was been sitting out because it was dry. The fries, something, tasted like they were fried to long and had no taste but grease. I didn't even eat them except for a few. The fried chicken wings were ok. The flavor was good but same issues as the chicken sandwich meat, tasted old ot r that it had deep fried to long.. to came to this place because I was in the are and I love Korean fried chicken spots. I love trying new spots but food itself caught me off guard because the ratings are so great. The service was good and quick. No complaints there but since I was carrying out im soley grading this place by its food. I most likely won't be giving this place...
Read moreWOW is all I can say. Out of the competition in the Tampa area, I can say with confidence that this place has THE BEST Korean fried chicken hands down. Trust me when I say I'm a Korean fried chicken connoisseur, as I've tried the ones in Atlanta and Boston.
The chicken wings are made fresh to a crisp and KRUNCH. We ended up getting spicy but I'd say it isn't as spicy as we'd expect but that's because we have a very high spicy tolerance. I'd say on a heat scale for spicy glazed chicken wings, it would be maybe 3 of 10 on a heat scale.
The Crispy Chicken steamed buns were perfection and absolutely detectable. The bun was warm, moist, fluffy and airy with the crispy chicken, lettuce and cucumber accompanying your bite.
Also couldn't leave without trying their lychee smoothie with clear boba to wrap things up.
Overall I'd highly recommend this local restaurant and look forward to coming back...
