I had the fried tofu appetizer and the spicy pork ramen. I had a little trouble communicating with the server - I wanted age dashi tofu, which is served with dashi stock. I tried to ask her if their fried tofu was age dashi tofu with dashi stock and she seemed really confused and told me that it 'had broth mixed in it'... which I didn't understand. I decided to try it anyway, just hoping it was age dashi, but it was not. It it was just okay. it was just panko breaded tofu with dried Bonito flakes on top, sesame vinegar sauce on the side. the menu item is called 'fried agi tofu' so you can see why I thought it might be my favorite age dashi. if I had known it wasn't age dashi tofu I would've ordered something else. the ramen broth was very good, the toppings were very good, even the chashu was alright, but I didn't really care for the ramen noodles themselves. I could tell the noodles were not dried ramen, but I just didn't care for them. they didn't absorb the soup well and were a little dry, they also had a weird aftertaste, but that's just my opinion. I might be a harsh critic because I've eaten ramen in Japan, so that's why I gave 4 stars. I would come back to try rice bowls and other appetizers, but probably...

I ordered a curry katsu. The plating is weird. I get they want the plating to be nice looking but they should do research as to how curry katsu is usually plated. The chicken they give is certainly generous and the small salad is refreshing with a soy ginger dressing. The curry, which I ordered spicy, is nothing to write home about: generic and not spicy.
The other person I was with got 3 appetizers for their meal: edamame, chicken karaage, and pork buns. The edamame were way too salty. The texture of the chicken karaage was chewy and only good when doused with the spicy mayo they serve on the side. On a good note, the pork bao (not pictured) was pretty good. The spring rolls were accidently brought to us. They had good texture but mushy on the inside.
Took about 10 minutes to grab a waitressâ attention.
The chicken katsu was a decent price but, overall, the restaurant is overpriced.
I will not be...
Read moreJust fine. Thatâs how it is here. The food was fine, the service was fine. I had been wanting to try genki ramen for some time. The restaurant was mostly clean, and almost completely empty at 5 pm. The hostess took a moment from her phone and seated us at a booth. We ordered the chicken dumplings to start. They were quite good, albeit $8 for six small dumplings. Hubby ordered the short rib rice plate. The sauce on the ribs was rich and flavorful but the ribs were chewy, not like they had been slow cooked - as a meat like short ribs needs to be. For $18, the plate of food was sparse. I ordered the shio paitan ramen. The broth was good, noodles cooked well, and plenty of toppings. But nothing stands out about this ânewâ offering. We ordered two iced teas as well. A note on iced tea - when made properly (as this was) it is not inherently cold. A good glass of iced tea has plenty of ice to cool down the tea. That did not occur on the original teas or the refills. We spent $56 including tip, and Iâd have expected a higher level of food and service for...
