Sitting on the corner of Armitage & Western, you can find parking for restaurant guests behind the building. Otherwise there is scarce metered parking on the street. The very first thing I notice is the vortex of wind and strength needed to push through the tiny double-doored corridor. In this tiny space is also an atm. The kind that charges you $3. (This is important to remember for later).
You seat yourself. I did. The waitress came over almost immediately with some thick tortilla chips and a little cup of pico. The chips were blahhhh but the pico got me excited. Like dance in my seat excited. It has jalepenos bursting all through it but not too much to steal away the flavor of the onion and cilantro. Yummy yummy yummy. I ordered a 3 taco (2 chicken, 1 shrimp) dinner and a steak sope. The sope was pretty good. It comes topped with guacamole. The chicken taco didnt make an impression and but the shrimp taco was prepared and seasoned better than I expected.
The place is not really beautiful on the inside but it was clean. The bathroom was also clean but there are no paper towels and has an ancient hand dryer, just one. The staff seem nice enough but the checkout process was rather slow. I spent just about $18. The waitstaff does not get their tips if customers pay their bill with a debit or credit card. It's suggested you use cash to pay for your dine-in orders. Since I thought that was rather unfair...
back out into that vortex of a tiny entrance corridor where this journey began almost 35 minutes earlier. This time I was stuck in this space to pay $3 that will allow me to withdraw $20 for my $18 meal, that I could have just put on my debit card for free if my waitress could actually get her tip like any other restaurant does when people put tips on cards.
The inconvenience of my checkout process is the part of the experience that dropped a potential 4 star rating to a 3.

Read moreI went there and asked for 2 tacos al pastor and a steak burrito with only cheese and cream and my girlfriend ordered a steak taco dinner with a shrimp tostada and omg was the food bad. Aside from the 2 al pastor tacos nothing else was good my burrito was sooo salty and not only did they not put cream in they also put so little cheese i wokldnt be surprised if they only added a pinch of it then my girlfriends shrimp tostada was more like a tomato onion tostada. After her first bite she moved it around and only found 2 shrimps in it and her taco dinner was horrible too. The tacos where extremly salty and the rice was hard so was the the beans. We only get the dinner to feed our son he didnt want asingle bite he spit the food out right away. So when we inform our waitress about the food we only complained about the steak and the dinner all she said was "well since nobody else complained tonight that she cant do anything about it". We couldnt believe it we didnt even touch our fod and when i informed her about my burrito having no cream and barely any cheese she says that all the grease coming out of it is the cheese and cream melted inside. I understand that it would melt but if i hold the burrito sideways and litteraly ounces of grease pour out looking clear and yellow i dont belive any cheese or cream was melted inside. I constantly eat a burrito like that and always do i see the liquids come out white due to the cream and cheese. In the end none of us ate our food and still had to pay $45 for that horrible food and when asked to speak to a manager they said no there is no manager. Safe to say im never...
Read moreFirstly, I rated the atmosphere a 5 because I’m introverted. If you show up on an afternoon you’ll know why. Pretext II I’ve probably spent close to 4k over the last 20 yrs on food trucks. Now the GOOD part. Pico de gallo is superior to anyone else according to the palette of Perry. No, I have not eaten at every restaurant in the Midwest (former rideshare driver) or southern states so take with a grain of salt. However my palette has great wisdom . At 5’11” 134pds , 3 tacos pollo & rice is the wall. If I want to drive a car safely, u understand? You will try the tacos and you will try the rice. Now listen carefully let me help you because I drove down for lunch from Wisconsin. I’m saying that to say this; food is better than sex or women. The sauce is not for the tacos it is for the rice. 4 cups precisely is enough (I prefer 2 green 2 red). You want each rice grain fully submerged in a spicy paste like soup(continue to stir until satisfied). If you order the large side of pico de gallo even better but I only ordered on my tacos. Staff is friendly , elder señor on the grill has been running Arturo’s ever since I stepped in the door about 10 yrs ago. And if you think it’s too expensive it ain’t Taco Bell. Go return some useless junk you don’t need back to the store and treat yourself to...
