Easy Bar — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

The outside looks small and a bit rundown, belying a huge, gorgeous bar inside. It is a hallway bar, but wide enough to fit bar seating and 4-top table seating the length of the main bar area, with enough space in-between to walk three across. This plus the vaulted tin ceiling and massive single pane mirror occupying the center of the back bar makes the bar feel beautifully cavernous. In addition, there is front patio seating, a pool table in the entry area and a semi-separate area in the back. The lighting is fantastic; warm and indirect, providing enough illumination to see comfortably but keeping it dark enough to leave a large space feeling intimate. The noise is at the upper end of comfortable, coming from jukebox driven music (set at a good level, audible but not overpowering) and the din of a large crowd, amplified by the high-ceiling'd space. Had to strain a bit to be heard in the main area, a bit quieter in the front and back, just street noise at the patio.

Solid selection of tap and bottle beers, all the expected spirits and daily drink specials. Service at the bar was quick despite the large crowd and all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

I was unlawfully kicked out of this bar last night (11/13/2023). When asked why, the bartender couldn't give a valid reason. When I challenged him on the obvious racist implications, he stumbled over his words and timidly said "don't escalate the situation". I offered to call the authorities in the moment, as it was so absurd that I was getting kicked out for no reason. He said that it was unnecessary and then pleaded for me to leave as I was quietly waiting for a friend. I left shortly after, as it would obviously be his word vs my word. I'm not a Caucasian so my word is practically meaningless in this situation. I will be speaking with my legal team regarding this incident. This is completely unacceptable, I did absolutely nothing to warrant this bigot's expulsion. This was an obvious abuse of what little authority this bartender has and it will be remedied swiftly. We hosted a welcome party here for our wedding on 11/1/19. The service was incredible! So much more than we expected, especially considering that you don’t have to pay to book the space. We worked with Ryan to figure out which bar would be the best space for our guest count (about 100). Easy Bar scheduled a time for us to come see the space, they answered all of our questions then gave us a free drink. Ryan was super responsive to emails throughout the planning - and worked with us to come up with a drink menu within our budget. On the night of Easy Bar staff were so kind and attentive - they asked us about music volume and lighting, gave us updates on the tab amount, and continuously checked in to make sure everything was ok. We had a great party and everyone loved the bar/space....
