This is in regards to their online experience. I have visited in-person in both their new location and old location, along with ordering online in the past. My usual transactions have usually been very good previously. Sad to have a poor experience recently with the COVID pandemic. I purchased a pair of trousers to help support and patiently waited for them to be delivered. I had previously taken note of their sizings via one email prior to purchase, however on arrival the size I chose was unfortunately too large. No big deal, I would size down. So I went to send an email to them...no response after one week. No big deal, I figure things may be busy, limiting staffing due to the pandemic. Email again after 1 week. Send another after another week. Third email sent. Now fourth email. Coming up on 4 weeks since my initial purchase, and it seems like I have been purposely ignored. It would be nice to at least received a response and now their instagram posts are "limiting comments." Sad, since I do my best to buy local and participate in "slow fashion." I guess I will be taking my future purchases elsewhere. They carry some great brands, but I hope others have better online experiences, not knocking in the in-person experience.
EDIT (UPDATE): I had originally given them 2/5 for their online service, but just changed to 4/5. George (owner) reached out to me earlier this month (3/2021) to rectify the issue, which I appreciated and had offered to make the situation right in terms, however due to the length of the time this had occurred I had already gotten the appropriate sizing and sold off the larger size on Grailed. I do appreciate their honesty and ownership regarding the lack of communication during the early pandemic times and we were able to work something out. I hope this is the way for Independence to be more expedient in terms of responding to customer service issues. Still have awesome brands and dope clothing from some of my favorite brands. Since I bought from this place before I send them an email to ask if they could put it on hold for me because I wasn’t in Chicago yet but no answer came. I send a second email, still no answer. When I finally made it to Chicago and came to the shop I said very kindly that I send emails and would’ve liked at least an answer instead of being ignored especially since I’m a returning customer. The person that was there was super defensive and snippy. Instead of apologizing he just started constantly snipping at me. I thought to myself fine I just drop it cuz I didn’t wanna get into a discussion but this guy just from now on wouldn’t stop being snippy and rude to me even while I paid the jacket I bought. Very frustrating experience!
