I’ve visited my fair share of specialty coffee shops in Chicago, Kansas City, Georgia, and overseas (South Korea). Four Letter Word didn’t let down.
I was greeted immediately once in the shop. It was freezing outside on this day, so it was a blessing, if you will, to be greeted moreover by the warm air inside.
There was no rush to order, and albeit being subjective, the Burundi pourover I ordered was [carefully brewed and] delightful. I was a bit anxious when I first walked in, simply because of the size of the space — it’s a literal hole-in-a-wall. But the seating is both plentiful and nicely spaced-out.

They still haven’t opened the inside, which means you’re standing outside—blazing sun or pouring rain—to make an order.
There’s only one person working ever, so a line only 4 people deep can feel like it’s taking an eternity.
It’s also expensive, maybe the priciest in the neighborhood. Perhaps it’s a way to make up for people who grow tired of the line and leave.
Fabulous place, just wish there were some improvements by now. I’ve been going for over a year and nothing has changed.
(Also would love if they got almond milk as another non...
