I've had good luck with pests the 10+ years I've been a plant parent until I started buying plants from here. A few months ago a plant I bought ended up hatching spider mites. Most recently I bought a 4 foot fiddle leaf and to my surprise, a week later, mealy bugs... Plants from here tend to have pests though they have a nice variety at a decent price. Check before you buy and quarantine for at least a week! They keep their plants underwatered, but once the soil is moist again, pests. Hopefully I can contain the spread.
UPDATE: Had to remove a star when I tried to get this resolved. Cotto's main focus was getting me to change my review as opposed to changing my experience. They did take the plant back and treat it, but not without gaslighting and assuming I don't know what mealy bugs look like, as opposed to rocks. Not the response I expect from a business owner, especially being owner/operator of my own Chicago tour company. Cotto was not present when I bought the plant and I did not receive any cards or instructions on what to do if there was a problem ANY of the 5 times I've bought plants from here. I appreciate your passion for plants, but it's not personal, it's business. I wish I could change my review and continue supporting, considering proximity, but I've always been satisfied and met with excellent service at Christie Webber or Adams & Sons & Daughter, no matter the staff size or issues...
Read moreThis shop goes above and beyond. I have lived on Diversey for years, and that building just sat vacant for most of them. When Terracotto came in, I don’t think the neighborhood could imagine how much better it would become because of it. Cotto, Brian, and Christian are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. And it’s been great seeing them raise Rocky (the unofficial shop mascot) and watching him grow up too. I’ve bought numerous plants and pots from here, and they even do at home consultations (which I’ve done and highly recommend). They will do the littlest to biggest things, and have always charged an incredibly reasonable price. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Chicago with my...
Read moreCotto has helped me in a pinch two times now. First when I accidentally killed my friend’s cactus while he was on vacation. The second when I had a clipping of a Monstera that was sitting in water for over two weeks. Both me and the plant, helpless. Cotto provided me with an adorable replacement cactus that is still on display at my friends house—and was able to pot my clipping in an adorable pot, while giving me tips on care for the plant while doing it. Cannot recommend a better plant shop in Chicago! Cotto’s passion...
