Free Pop-Up in Chicago This Friday—Taste Garrett’s New Pizza Popcorn With Home Run Inn

A family favorite. Something that I actually miss about Chicago. There's something different about Home Run Inn Pizza. The crust is always the best part. It's always so crispy. The pep is also perfect. There's like a certain foods that you can just throw at me and with ONE bite, I know where it's from. Every time I come, I customize my own pie. Like always, I get the same thing. Pep, spinach, and sausage. I feel like you can never go wrong with that. The last time I've gone, my family has gotten appetizers that they LOVE. The potato wedges. LOADED. Fat Tip: If not a local of Chicago, check your local grocery store. Sometimes they sell the frozen Home Run Inn Pizzas that do the trick.

It's been years since I visited a Home Run Inn Pizza in Chicago. It was a family tradition for me to go on Sundays when I was a child. I was pleased to learn they offer a personal size pizza and I didn't know they had a bar for us single people who want express service. The pizza was so delicious and perfectly cooked. Same great unique taste as always, like no other. Great selection of beer on tap . Wish they would build a Home Run Inn in the Fox Valley like St. Charles, Elgin or West Dundee and Schaumburg, IL near Woodfield Mall would be a most preferred location. I would be willing to be a franchisee if possible for a new location. I look forward to visiting the other locations.

Sorry for this late and delayed review. Totally forgot due to a thing called life however I felt this is imperative not just to voice my concerns yet to bring awareness to other's that want to patronize the establishment in the future. My visit occurred on Friday February 24, 2024 which was a a spur of the moment decision to go out and eat for lunch however to ensure a definite Google was used to provide open availability time of the restaurant which stated 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A time of arrival was agreed upon between my date and self so we requested an Uber to proceed to the restaurant. As we arrived at about 12:30p.m the excitement to try a certain drink while enjoying a good meal was all we thought about however that turned into pure disappointment as we entered there was nobody present or available at the counter to greet us or provide any information because what we saw was the dining area closed and I had to place a phone call while standing there to get somebody's attention only to answer at the counter so we could be seen for the staff to say Oh dine in isn't an option until 3p.m. but you can do carry out. I informed her that when the restaurant was googled which I showed her that it provided when opening hours were she said you have to go onto the website and scroll down to actually see that it says dine in hours start at 3 p.m. be reminded again we arrived at 12:30p.m so what were to do until dine in hours giving the consideration we utilized Uber to get there and we hadn't had any food consumption so yes the hunger was there. So we had simply no other choice but to wait approximately 3 hours to dine in because it made no sense to go back home to return.

My excitement went down to disappointment and instantly frustration it should be better conveyed outside of the website about dine in hours because many just Google and not view the actual website. As we waited these long hours we also saw many others who came wanting to dine in to be disappointed and leaving back out the doors because they didn't want to wait either thankfully I live here in Chicago but for a visitor who might not would be terrible especially if they had to leave to catch a flight and wanted to incorporate this experience. Outside of this mishap thankfully the service that was provided by our server Tiffany made up for the lack of unfortunate events she was very attentive to our needs and she should be recognized for the awesome amazing job she did. In spite of the drinks we had were good and by some form of grace our meal was placed correctly and was served hot and fresh to say the least.

But honestly I feel something should be done because to wait that long was unacceptable luckily my date nort I had any health issues that required us to partake in a meal immediately. My advice is to at least start dine in by 1:30pm

I hope this review was insightful and brought some awareness. If I get in the mood I'll find home run inn in my local grocery store freezer aisle...

So saturday which was 10/21/2017 I called home run inn on 31st to inform them that i would be having a party of at least 10 people maybe a little more. The worker said that everything is based off a first come first served so I would basically have to wait in like like everyone else. I then arrived at the store 2 hours after I called and told the rep that I would need seats for 13 she then was ready to seat me at 3:08 with only 4people out of my party present. I told her I had some table decorations and needed to run back to my car. When I came back in I was directed to sit down on the bench and wait for 3/4th of my party to be in attendance to be seated. Finally at about 3:35 the rest of my party stared to show up that’s when she decided to seat me as soon as I touched the stair to be seated I was told “WE CAN NO LONGER SEAT YOU” you have to leave. I totally understand that you guys had a basement flood but considering the fact that I waited already for a decent amount of time after being miss led I think I should of been told sooner than when I was told. They knew way before 3:36 that it was issues and they would have to close because when i first arrived I over heard a customer saying that the soda tasted funny. I then asked to speak to a manager whom seemed as if she didn’t care. Saturday was a big day for me i spent 160 dollars to have snap chat filters made for this location for my kids birthdays. Considering the fact the manager was so unapologetic during the whole situation i won’t be returning. They knew before the 30 mins had passed that it was a leak and there was issues with plumbing but I guess making me wait to find out was some sort of game that I...

The myth is real!, but it's a guy in a fur coat (with rather odd nipple fuzz) instead of a Yeti.

Growing up poor I lived off the frozen pizzas, but as I got older I heard the legend of the Home Run Inn restaurant where pizza runs wild and rampant, free for your taste buds to fondle! Over the years I caught one or two glimpses as my family drove past late in the night which proved it to be true! Never would I have thought I would be working so close to it later on in life.

My first visit I brought in all the emails of free birthday pizza coupons I had sat on for years. To my disappointment, they refused all but one...Never the less it was a free pie! Enjoyed.

Inside of the place is a small arcade complete with claw machines, a token of the 80s and 90s era that is long gone. 60% of the time half the machines are broken. The rest is the dining area which is surprisingly elegant.

Something I noticed though in subsequent visits was that the pizza didn't quite match up to the factory made frozen pizzas. Sometimes you didn't even taste the signature butter crust. They use good quality ingredients, but it just doesn't work out when made at this restaurant. I remember one of my pizzas being clearly burned as well. The last straw was ordering a meat lover's pizza which was overpriced as always only to receive the most blandest pizza I ever ate. I promised to never go back until they got their act together after that and so far haven't been.

Overall while this place is disappointing and so overpriced it would put Five Guys to shame it still has a place in my heart while also being notably better than a lot of smaller chains. Paisan's wrecks HRI...
