I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience today, 08/25/2024, at this hidden gem on the corner of 31st St and Tripp St, right on the dividing line between Chicago and Cicero. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the cozy atmosphere and warm vibe. I decided to try two tacos: one carne asada and the other chicharrón in green sauce. Both were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. I also ventured out and tried something new for me — the quesabirria. It was beyond amazing; the meat practically melted in my mouth, and the dipping broth added an extra layer of savory goodness.
The staff was kind enough to offer me a cup of their menudo, which was a delightful surprise. It was just perfectly seasoned and comforting. On top of that, they served me a cup of lentil soup that was hearty and delicious — every bite was soul-warming. I couldn’t believe how incredible everything tasted!
This small, family-run restaurant is truly a hidden treasure. The food is fantastic, the service is top-notch, and the owner, Irma, welcomes you like family. She treats every customer with such genuine warmth and respect, making you feel right at home. The staff is just as friendly and attentive, ensuring you have a great experience from start to finish.

1st things first. They allowed my wife and I to bring in our little dog. We just put or other dog who was about to turn 17 next week to sleep 2 days ago so we didn't want to leave our other dog home alone. Thank you to the server!
The food is absolutely delicious! I tried 5 different and took a bite out of a other so technically 6. The quesabirria was so flavorful and the tortilla had the right amount of crunch, the consume was very tasty as well. The lengua is very tender and full of flavor, Al pastor was good, and the barbacoa (meat from the cheek) was outstanding. The regular barbacoa was really good too. The kind server gave me a cup of Mexican coffee to try. I always put cream and sugar in my coffee and this coffee needed none of that. I don't know how they make it but I think their black coffee is super good! I will be going back to this spot whenever I'm in the area. Highly, highly...
Read moreSo I’m from Houston Texas raised in my parents Tex-Mex restaurant in Chicago for business. Back home it’s 80 degrees and I wake up to low 40’s so what better than menudo for this weather right. Started looking for best menudo in Chicago and this place came up a few times so I decided to give them a try. Not disappointed, when I first get there I’m greeted by I believe is Irma tells me to have a seat and brings me a cup of piping hot sopa just how my mother would give us on a cold day. May I add that that was before bringing me a cup of cafe de olla that took me pack to my grandmothers house in Celaya Guanajuato when I was 10 years old. I ordered the menudo, and 1 taco de cabeza. 10 out of 10 for sure. But what made it even better was feeling at home and with family with everyone there. Señora Irma usted y su familia tienen algo muy especial. Comida sabrosa, ambiente de casa y de familia. Gracias por...
