La Roqueta — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

Been here before for their breakfast, I enjoyed it. Their prices are hard to beat. However, today was a different story. We ordered the steak quesadilla and boy oh boy, if you like your steak to have 97% fat content then this is what you should order. I've never had a problem like this before but I'll make sure in the future to inquire about the quality of steak that's used. Like I said previously, I've eaten here before with no issue but with meat prices going up I guess they've opted for a cheaper cut of beef. As soon as I bit into the quesadilla the gristly sensation of fat between my teeth made me gag. I prefer little to no fat in my carne asada but to each their own. Making matters worse our server never came to see how we were doing aside from taking our order and bringing our food. I left the plate with all the fatty meat and the partially eaten quesadilla on the edge of the table hoping our waitress would come and check in, but sadly no. She was occupied with sweeping behind the counter the whole time we were eating. All this while other patrons were tended to by their servers. I noticed she glanced over at me and my table quite a few times. It appeared that she even made a note of our table to what appeared to be the manager or owner (I'm assuming) because he then looked over at me. It was possibly a bad day for her but it's unfortunate since I'm probably not going to return due to this experience. I've seen many positive reviews of this restaurant and I may have a change of heart in the future. I'll just avoid those particular items on the menu. Other than that doesn't hurt to try at these prices but like they say, "you get what...

This place needs wayyy more reviews and deserves all the stars. I keep trying out new taco places to see which has the best taste and value. And I think I found it today the tacos are soooo good. They were only $2, so I ordered 6 thinking they'd be tiny. They were huge! I can't believe. And so yummy! Delicious tortillas that I hear are made in house. And they give you large portions of salsa! I pass this spot everyday and never gave it a chance due to their tacky decor and colors....but god damn! They make some mean Mexican breakfast's. I love coming here.
