We arrived to Janik's with excitement and hunger only to be left disappointed and still hungry. I ordered the hazelnut latte, it was enjoyable but not strong coffee at all. My brother ordered their fresh squeezed orange juice and saw them pour his orange juice out of a container. He asked about this and the waiter explained that the container of orange juice says "fresh squeezed" on the bottle. so he cancelled the drink. We ordered the French toast to start and that was good and palatable but things got bad from there. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, the one that I saw on their website, the one that drew me to the place.....it was instead 3 flat pieces of probably once frozen fried chicken tenders stacked with warm wilty lettuce and a cold piece of cheese. Nothing like the picture. I returned it and decided to order a tomato, onion, bacon, and swiss omelette. Can't mess up an omelette right? Meanwhile my brother is attempting to enjoy his crab cake and lox Benedict. His food looked gray, like old frozen fish cakes, he didn't even finish half of it before he quit, and he normally eats everything! My omelette arrived and I was immediately disappointed. The potatoes were so bad. Freezer burned taste and not crisp. My omelette only had tomato and onion, with a hard cold piece of swiss cheese in the middle. The bacon was forgotten so instead they put 3 pieces of old bacon in the microwave and added it to the side of my omelette. It was very sad looking bacon, soft, thin, and greasy. I asked about why the bacon was on the side and not in my omelette and the response was that is how they make that. 👀 I returned the omelette. The waiter was very nice and apologetic but really was not in any position to remedy these issues, he just kept asking if I wanted something else. Me and my brother are foodies and perhaps our expectations were too high but the laziness of the cook is not too be ignored. Why go to a restaurant if you are going to just get microwave bacon? Not fresh food at all. No love. Great atmosphere and location. But if you love food done right, this is...
Read moreStopped in morning after July 4 to carry out some brunch for my family visiting from out of town. Welcomed at the door and order was ready on time. Food was delicious and prices are extremely reasonable. They packed utensils and gave us all the syrup and sauces we requested! I live close by and I will definitely be stopping by more often!
Breakfast croissant was a good basic (bread probably could’ve been toasted more) but the breakfast potatoes were so flavorful and crispy that it made up for it. Cheesy grits were a fun addition that was just decadent enough for me with some hot sauce on the side. Pancakes and French toast were amazingly crispy and fluffy, after 3 minutes in our air fryer after the walk home, a perfect hack if you can’t eat them fresh on-site. The breakfast quesadilla was definitely the most unique and was what hit the meal out of the park! Without an air fryer it might not travel as well as the quesadilla could get soggy but it would be perfect fresh and the air fryer did the trick for us nicely. Loved the rice beans and salsa that it came with. All of this (there’s more pancake and toast not pictured) for $45!! It fed and satisfied our family of 5. Thank you Janiks for being a Wicker...
Read moreLet me begin by singing praises to Janik Café! At first glance, I thought it was just another breakfast spot, but it is anything but ordinary. While it can meet the need for a classic breakfast, it truly shines when you explore its unique offerings. I had the Latin Bowl with Mexican chicken, and let me tell you—it was nothing short of amazing.
The plantains were cooked to perfection—not overly soft, not too firm, just right. The salad, rice, and beans were a symphony of flavors, each element prepared with care and attention. The balance of the dish reflected a spirit of excellence and dedication that speaks to doing all things well.
The ambience was warm and welcoming, and the staff displayed a rare attentiveness—present without being intrusive. It was clear they were serving with heart and purpose, ensuring that every guest felt valued.
As someone who felt a bit introverted walking in, I found the experience uplifting. It was a gentle reminder of the beauty in fellowship and the joy that comes from others giving their best. Janik Café reflects the principle of striving for excellence in all we do. I’ll...
