I never wanted to come here because of all the negative comments my coworkers make, and I wish I would have listened. I have given them 3 chances and every time it’s a different issues. The first time the manager did offer me a drink but I don’t want free things I want my order to be correct and for it to be ready when I’m told it is going to be ready not 20-30 min after it was supposed to be ready. The first time I went in 15 min after I ordered like I was told, I waited for 5 minutes and then I asked for my order again. It turns out it was not ready and I had to wait more time. I wasted 30-40 minutes of my lunch break waiting for my food. The second time I went the food was made wrong, whatever I ate it because I did not want to waste my lunch break again. The third and final time I went in and someone had ordered the food for me, they forgot to pay but they tried calling three different times and every time the cashier, kathia, kept hanging up on them. She did not know that I knew the person who she was on the phone with. She was giving him smart remarks and was not trying to help the situation. She was also making rude faces to him and rolling her eyes. She eventually called her manager and my friend was able to pay. So when I go up to the counter she reads the order back to me and I tell her that was not what I ordered. She rolls her eyes again, gets her manager and begins telling her manager about the “guy who kept calling” and the manager rolls her eyes too. By this point I’m upset and annoyed because I do not appreciate that type of attitude toward customers. The person who ordered the food for me calls back and confirms that they had my order wrong and the cashier was giving me someone else’s food. If they can’t be helpful and do it with a smile then they need to find a...
Read moreMe and my wife were in the south loop when we both started feeling really hungry. We parked in the parking lot of jewel osco and looked if we could try something healthy and with a good ambiance around us to have a quiet lunch. And we found Jason's Deli. From the outside it looks like the place is closed coz of its dark glasses which makes the outer look of the restaurant but we went in and oh My God! It was a huge place with lots of tables and chairs and soda with a rustic look of the brick walls. The lighting inside was pretty soothing with everything looking nice clean and tidy and the food aroma which was making us even hungrier every passing minute. In the center of restaurant they have a salad bar with fresh fruits and veggies and other healthy stuff. Without any further ado, we placed our orders of Club royale sandwich with a side of soup and Santa Fe chicken sandwich with a side of chips and fresh fruits, everything on multi grain bread. Now we waited for outer food you arrive. And to be honest, I would say that this was one of the best sandwich me and my wife had. Warm and Freshly toasted bread, grilled chicken perfectly seasoned, delicious soup and when we were done eating, there was a FREE softy ice cream in vanilla or chocolate flavor on the house. We really enjoyed our delicious food and evening. Anyone in the south loop looking to eat healthy delicious food must stop by at Jason's deli. There is ample mall parking too with mall security keeping an eye on any unscrupulous...
Read moreLots of space with a modern deli setup. You order as you walk in and they bring it to your table. There's also a salad bar. Prices are reasonable. My eyes ended up settling on the chicken salad sandwich and seafood gumbo. The food was on my table in the few minutes I went to the bathroom. The chips that came with the sandwich look to be plain ruffles which is a nice touch and makes the combos addicting (I'm also tired of all of the terrible homemade chips that plague the city.) A very simple chicken salad recipe that is surprisingly good. They even toast the bread which you almost never see for chicken or tuna salad sandwiches. The bits of pineapple give a nice sweetness to it without the need to add a bunch of sugar.
The seafood gumbo you can tell they didn't bother heating up. The lukewarm soup was filled with gelatinous chunks. There is a scoop of cilantro rice in the middle to give contrast. Bits of shrimp and sausage float about, but not enough protein for my liking. There's a decent kick to it in every spoonful yet it feels like it's missing something.
Overall, I would say I'm a fan of the place. It's hard to find places that do chicken or tuna salad justice and not just push bland disappointment...
