I have never felt so humiliated and disrespected ever in my life. Please do not ever spend your money in Lalos Mexican Restaurant on Halsted in Chicago. They treated me like I was a piece of trash. I went there last night for my cousins birthday dinner and everything was okay until their waiter threw away my $3000 Invisalign braces. When I took my braces out of my mouth and set them on the saucer in front of me, I specifically told the waiter, "please do not take this plate because my expensive braces are on here" and he told me "Okay he will not take it". I happened to look down and noticed that he took the plate anyways. So I got up and ran to the back of the restaurant where the kitchen area is and I immediately got pushed back by a huge security guard and was told that I had to stand very far away as I'm trying to explain to the waiters and managers that their employer threw away my $3000 Invisalign Braces. They're telling me that they will look for them, I'm waiting for a whole hour and they never came back with my braces, no sorry no nothing. I asked for some type of customer service compensation for my loss due to their employee when I specifically said not to touch the plate and he touched it anyways resulting in me being without my $3000 braces! The rude racist manager there told me, "we will not give you any compensation for anything! I don't care it's your fault!" There was another host lady there who was laughing like it was funny and I couldn't believe this was happening to me. There was a nice customer who was a Hispanic lady standing to the left of me who saw everything that was going on and she desperately pleaded with them to at least give me my meal free or something and at least say sorry, I mean some type of compensation. I asked her, "I'm surprised you were able to get past the line to talk to them, like you were almost inside of the door, they immediately pushed me out and made me stand far away when I'm only trying to talk to them about my braces" and she said "I'm so sorry, it's because I'm Hispanic that I could go back there and talk to them". When she said that I felt terrible, I started crying and tried to hold my composure but I couldn't help it because I work hard for my money, my braces are expensive and it didn't feel good to be laughed at. We called the police and the police told me to never come back here because they often get racist complaints from this establishment!! THE POLICE SAID THIS TO MY FACE! I had to pay $60 for my meal with no compensation, no sorry, no braces, no nothing. We had a whole table full of about 15 people and our bill came to $500 total and you're telling me that I can't get any type of compensation?!?! We spent a lot of money in there and got treated like crap!? I'm asking all of you who read this to NOT SPEND ANY MORE MONEY IN LALOS ON HALSTED, ESPECIALLY BLACK PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US AND WE CONTINUE TO SPEND OUR MONEY IN THERE! PLEASE SHARE THIS BECAUSE RIGHT IS RIGHT AND...
Read moreIf I can give this 0 stars I would ! First and last time I'm ever coming back here! Don't waste your hard working money or a single penny here , you will regret it!!! Where do I start ? Well first of all, it was girls night so It was about 10 of us. A pretty big table so you would think well have decent service right ? Unfortunately the first 20-30 min we were there , we were already chasing down our waitress and knew our service was sucky. The food was cold when we got it,we had to ask for refills all the time, and hunt our waitress down. At one point we thought she clocked out without telling us. We ordered shots , and once again nowhere to be found. Once we got our bill, SHE told us to split our order in the back and write our last 4 digit of our m credit/debit card info.We did,& added cash for the people that payed that way. When our waitress took the checkbook(6 credit cards and about $50 worth of tip money that was included the bill already) Hm maybe that's why she wasn't the best waitress at all? She left for a couple of seconds and came back with ONLY 2 OF OUR cards! Are you kidding me!?! The waitress lost 4 of our cards and was saying that we wanted to skip out on our bill. Are you kidding me? Why would we all want to cancel our cards cause YOU accidentally lost them or probably stole them! How do you lose 4 cards and ask US to check our purses when you seen us gather everything up. She never even asked us if we wanted to split the bill either. Never told us that there's "1 check per table" The other waitress there kept starting and even pushed one of my girls on purpose while she walked by our table. They all just started and stared without even checking their own pockets or looking for our damn cards !What makes matters worse is we were speaking to management and security for about an hour just to get nowhere and be disrespected left and right! We had to write a check to pay off the balance even though THEY lost our cards.HORRIBLE TIME AND CHOICE TO GO TO LALOS! NEVER COMING BACK!! We left our number and that dumb bald manager never called back or picked up our calls. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY AT THIS SHITY...
Read moreROACHES! I wish I could leave zero stars for this review. On Wednesday, June 4th, my husband and I attempted to dine at Lalo’s on Maxwell Street in University Village while we were taking a lunch break from attending sessions at the Small Business Expo at UIC. I must say, it was one of the most unpleasant experiences we’ve ever had. Upon being escorted to our booth, I noticed the seat was littered with crumbs. I asked the host/server to clean the seat and he proceeded to swipe the crumbs on the floor with a napkin. Once we were seated, the server brought cups of soup and chips & salsa to our table. Within five minutes of placing our orders, my husband told me to get up because there was a roach crawling on our table. I was shocked and disgusted when I saw the roach crawling near the basket of chips.
We couldn’t enjoy our meals knowing that we were sharing the space with ROACHES! We immediately looked for our server as we proceeded toward the entrance of the restaurant. My husband took the server aside and told him about the pest on our table and that we were leaving. The sever casually apologized and walked back into the restaurant. We both became queasy and anxiety set in and ruined our appetites altogether for the day.
The cleanliness of this establishment is severely lacking. This disregard for hygiene and customer comfort is unacceptable. We left feeling disgusted and will not ever be returning to Lalo’s or any restaurant adjacent because there is likely a roach infestation. I strongly urge anyone considering dining here to think twice. No one should have to deal with roaches while trying to enjoy a meal. Save your money and find a place that prioritizes cleanliness and customer...
