The muffulletta is insane. It's the best sandwich I've ever had. Now I have to go back and try some of the others. But I don't know if I will be able to resist just getting that incredible sandwich again. I would drive across the city for that sandwich. It's outrageously delicious- they also have nitrate free meats (if relevant for you; it's a dealbreaker for me). Sandwiches come with a choice of fruit or chips- both are good. They sell deli meats and cheeses amongst other products and have a small pasta menu to order from- everything smelled amazing. Nice, small patio- on this stretch of Grand it is nice and quiet. Tempesta is a fun market with a very friendly staff- who are helpful and very chill. That muffulletta though- I had to wait a few minutes to process how delicious it was after taking the first bite. It may be a special or just off-menu; but in true fashion was pre-assembled and sitting on the counter ready to go. I hate to say it- but it crushes the muffulletta at Central Grocery in NOLA (sorry) but in the best way. And I love Central Grocery. This was like a discovery of flavor and texture, messy and all of the best qualities a Chicagoan could want on a sandwich- silky, thin deli meats, the most perfect amount of sogginess and picked vegetables and olives falling everywhere. The gelato is good too- I ordered pistachio and it was heavenly. I accidentally ordered a small and should have gotten the kid's as I did not read the size amount. I can't wait to go back!

Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!

We ordered the The Potato-Nator, Zeppo’s Meatball Achievement, The B. Franklin, and the Caprese. The Potato-Nator was delicious and unique . The Meatball sub was tasty and the B. Franklin and Caprese were fresh and flavorful. I appreciated the variety of vegetarian options. It's a shame that the service and atmosphere do not match the quality of the food. We walked in and were sitting waiting to order when the employee pictured here started sweeping the rug so aggressively that dust and debris were flying all over myself and my family. I noticed a camera above the bathroom entry - I'd highly suggest checking it for this footage on 11/9 between 425pm and 435pm so watch this. She then rolled up the rug - which seemed odd since closing wasn't for another 25 minutes. I then waited approximately 5 minutes at the counter to order without being acknowledged-- only to be told I missed the cut-off for in-store eating by 5 minutes. Then as we waited for our 4 sandwiches that we just paid $70 for, the speakers starting blasting the "Closing Time" so obnoxiously loud on repeat for over 10 minutes. I have attached a photo of the employee to my review. You may want to reconsider her employment. She had an awful attitude and no customer service skills.

This review is only biased on service for Saturday PM Dec 1. The food here is excellent. I walked in, grabbed some water and headed over to the counter. The woman at the counter ignored me grabbed her phone and walked into the bathroom with the towel she uses to clean the counters. There were three other employees working none of which even said hello all stood with their backs to the customer. One lady that was closest to the counter was making a coffee drink. She saw me out of the corner of her eye but tried not to make any contact. I stood at the counter waiting to place my order for about 5-7minutes until the lady finished the coffee drink walked it over to the guy who ordered it and then proceeded to clean the coffee machine...all the while leaving me standing there without even saying Hi. On top of the fact that there were two other employees circling around doing everything else but acknowledging the customer. She finished her VERY long and drawn out cleaning of the espresso machine turns around very annoyed and says "what would you like?" Her attitude couldn't of been more I don't care. I ordered my sandwich and sat at a table to wait for my food. Just then the lady who was at the register (the one who walked away with her cell phone when I walked in) walked out of the bathroom with the same towel she wipes the counters down with and tucked it back through her belt loop (GROSS). Bottom line my experience sucked and the customer service here really needs to improve. There needs to be an employee meeting him how you treat your guests as well as...

Decided to try Tempesta Market after reading online reviews from others

It's a small place and the outside is unobtrusive and easy to overlook. An Italian Deli, an in-house charcuterie, gelate, with a wonderful selection of interesting craft sandwiches, and an array of gourmet pantry items to take home.

We had the Southside Johnny $13 (Porchetta, Brun-uusto, Broccolini, Chimichurri, Cheese, Pickled Fennel with Rosemary Broth on Sourdough) and the B. Franklin $11(Roasted Turkey, Hooks 2-Year Cheddar, Pickled Fresno, Avocado, Pea Shoots, Sofrito Aioli on Sourdough, I added Bacon for and additional $2).

The Southside Johnny is a hot sandwich and I loved the mixture of ingredients, it tasted great! The B. Franklin is a cold sandwich and just perfect for a hot summer day, All ingredients were fresh and delicious!

We went here for lunch on a weekday, it was busy, but not overly crowded. I'll bet they are really crowded on the weekends.

There are 4 large communal type wooden tables and benches to sit at or you can take your order to go.

There is street parking only, and it can be hard to find at times.

Try the gelato, we tried the pistachio and it was really delicious!

My only disappointment was that they did not bring out the muffaleta's until we were leaving. they are not on the menu and they sell out quickly. If you do not see them on top of the middle case, ask if they are available, that's what i am going to get next...
