If you value good service without racial bias, do NOT eat or drink here! We had the worst, most blatant display of brown hate here. We biked to the restaurant and I walked in to ask if it was OK to keep our bikes near us while we had lunch outside, it was confirmed. After 10 minutes passed, I went back in to get water and menus. She said, I will bring you water, just wait and take these. This was said with a ton of attitude. I took the menues outside and told my husband that I was no longer sure about this place. We decided to give them a chance and wait. After another 15 minutes, a Caucasian couple walked in and we saw the same person who was fully ignoring us, nearly broke her neck to get to their table. At this point, we understood what was happening, we were not welcome as brown people. We stood up to leave and then she came out and said, ooops sorry. We explained to her that we fully observed that we look different from the people she focused on and that it was beyond pathetic to have this experience in Chicago in 2025. She turned bright red and said, actually, my husband is Mexican so this is a minority owned business.
There is no better tell by a bigot than to say that their negativity is acceptable because they have a friend or a partner that is of same or similar make up.
Example: I was speaking to a random person in a public place and that person began disparaging Muslims. I said that I do not appreciate those negative words. The person said, no it's OK, I have a Muslim friend.
People who feel entitled to treat people in horrific ways and justify it by saying, oh, my husband is one of you. That is the grossest of the gross.
DO NOT GO to this spot if your expectations are to have a nice meal in a respectful place. On the other hand, I guess if you are a white supremacist, it may be the spot for you.
My last point is that, the inside of the restaurant was also gross. It looked like they dumped all dirty dishes in the entrance. This was one gross experience in every...
Read moreI was excited to try this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Based on the food and service, I wouldn’t return.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a woman who, as we later learned, was one of the owners. This was disappointing, as she appeared disengaged, spending most of her time on her phone or chatting with the bartender, while the only server on staff was visibly overwhelmed. The server, however, provided excellent service despite being extremely busy.
The presentation of the food was appealing, and the ingredients seemed high-quality. However, the execution fell short. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos, which were overly salty. I had to send the dish back, and when the replacement arrived, it was served with noticeable attitude from the owner, who came across as unwelcoming and condescending. Unfortunately, the replacement dish was just as salty, suggesting that the salsa itself was overly seasoned. We also ordered the asada fries and a tuna tostada. The fries were excessively salty but tolerable, while the tostada featured good-quality tuna. However, the salsa overpowered the other flavors, and the portion of fish didn’t justify the $17 price tag.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience. While the server’s effort was commendable, the poor service from the owner and the overly salty dishes make it hard to recommend this restaurant.
Update: I decided to look at past reviews, and it seems this restaurant has a recurring issue with both the woman owner and customer service. I was shocked to see their incredibly rude responses to negative feedback, which only reinforced my disappointment.
Update update: Like expected their unprofessionalism showed. Statistically with this repeating behavior and salty food we won’t see...
Read moreWAITED 3.5 HOURS AND NEVER GOT A TABLE!!!!!
I don’t normally leave bad reviews but my experience was so negative I needed to share. My friends and I put our names down for a party of 4 and were told it would be a 2.5 hour wait. During that time we tried to add 2 more to the reservation and told the hostess we are all girls we dont mind squeezing in a 4 top. When our “table” was ready they pointed at the BAR at 3 open seats and said that is where they would be seating us. They anticipated 2 other women at the bar to get up soon. Low and behold they did not. I complained to the hostess that we weren’t even given our original number of seats which was for 4 people. She was apathetic to say the least and said it would be an additional hour and 45 minutes to seat us at a table. This is after waiting for 2.5 hours already!!!! We took the 3 seats at the bar and waited while we had drinks but the hostess never followed up even though she knew we were waiting for her to find us a table. The hostess clearly didnt know what she was doing. There were empty tables everywhere. To top it off the bartender had a terrible attitude too. They added a 20% gratuity that they did not deserve. We didn’t even get to eat we were so upset. 3.5 HOURS of waiting and we left with empty stomachs. HORRIBLE service. Will not be...
