Two Shades Cafe — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

The people who run Two Shades Cafe are so genuinely welcoming and so humble that you feel like you are getting coffee at a friend or family member's home. Just the kind of people we need in our neighborhood! So far I have had donuts, Americans, and coffee. The donuts were the best I've had in a long time. The Americanos and coffee were so fresh and delicious. I can't say enough about the quality of their product and the kindness of everyone inside. Great experience! I left the post above when they first opened. 7 months later, I am logging on to leave another review. This place has gotten even better. The coffee is top-notch, better than Starbucks. When you take a couple of sips you can immediately feel the coffee. Literally an uplifting sensation. Just what I need everyday on the way to work. This place is so amazing I can't put into words. So happy they are in our neighborhood. When I first posted I was talking about how awesome the owners were. I can't end this post without saying how wonderful and amazing the employees they hired are. They are all so sweet,hard-working, and genuinely caring. I wish everyone that owns a business can learn to operate and run things like they do. Seriously top notch. Way to go TWO SHADES! UPDATE NUMBER 3!!! We went to the cutest cafe for lunch the other day.

Not only do they have great coffee,  lattes, donuts,  and pastries,  but, they also have great smoothies and sandwiches.

We had the Turkey Panini sandwich:

Panini bread, turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado and mayo.

And the Roast Beef Panini sandwich:

Panini bread, roast beef, Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo.

Their sandwiches are served with chips,  with fresh ingredients,  generous portions and are absolutely delicious.

To drink I had to try the White Chocolate Raspberry Latte and it was as good as it sounds,  smooth and refreshing.

We also tried the Tropical Greens smoothie with Lemongrass, spinach, cucumber, kiwi, apple, bananas and coconut milk.

Had an okay time at Two Shades. The staff is committed but not overly engaged. Which is fine. What was a let-down was the food. I had a breakfast burrito that had exclusively egg and cheese in it.

Now, we're European tourists, but from what I know, that's a meager filling and uncommon. My partner had a 'veggie bagel' which had two slices of tomato and a bit of cucumber. That's salad, not vegetables. Once again the fillings were quite meager for what we're used to (for what you can get in the same street even), without an associated drop in price.

The atmosphere was good in terms of noise and cleanliness. Bathrooms were also pretty good. But the particular chair I sat on was discolored-brown and boasted a big stain. The experience was just not what the current rating on Google would suggest it is. Not trying to be malicious or...
