Vinnies Sub Shop — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

I Googled a sub shop near me and this location popped up. I regret not knowing about them sooner.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the lovely Darlene. She was pure joy. She recommended their special, which I declined, but she was so accommodating and friendly. She went over the toppings and options with me with a smile on her face. Honestly, her customer service took this review from 4 to 5 stars. I'd go here any day over a Subway or Jimmy John's.

The sandwich was amazing. I got 2 turkey and cheese subs. 1 was smoked turkey and 1 was oven roasted. The bread was fresh and the outside was crispy but the inside was soft and chewy. The owners are great here. They also own the hardware store next door. In fact this store front use to be part of the hardware store until they added on the sandwich shop.

It was a brilliant move by the owners to start making subs here. Down the street is Bari which is the original Italian chicago sub place with a line that goes out the door at lunch time. This place is a great alternative to waiting in the line. Is the sandwich the same? No but it's darn good. In fact, many businesses have copied Bari and started serving subs like Dmatos Bakery & JP Graziano. This sub thing is really competitive in this neighborhood. In fact, it's like a sub war. The subs were tasty!!! I got the smoked turkey and the Italian sub. The lady running the sub shop was really sweet. Vinnie’s was a super small sub shop. I got there at 11:22am and walked out at 12:02pm. It took 40 mins to get the 5 subs. The guy in front of me had a 30 sub order and so many grub hub and uber eats drivers kept coming in to pick up online orders; plus other people kept coming in off the street to get a sub.
