I attended this restaurant last night with a group of 3 other females friends, we found out about the restaurant on tik tok. The owner was there and he was very nice.Location wise it’s in a great location/area. As far as parking I would Uber it’s a lot of permit parking on the side streets it’s a busy block on the weekends parking can be limited but that’s not controllable in chicago and also depends to the weekend. The restaurant is black owned and it’s definitely a mixed crowd, I wouldn’t say this it was giving early 30’s or late 20’s tho but over all the establishment is nice and can be a fun time. Fridays nights is suppose to be like a karaoke vibe and it was nice with the DJ. As far as food goes we were definitely disappointed, we ordered fries, jerk tacos and jerk egg rolls and they didn’t taste like jerk the food was cold and the egg rolls were soggy; very poor presentation and taste and the food honestly smelled like spoiled meat (I didn’t have anything to eat but i did try my friends food) the waiter did take the food off the bill, but waited almost 30 mins after removing the food from the table to ask if we wanted anything else to eat or if we wanted it to be remade. Via tik tok reviews we seen a lot of people saying the wings and tenders were good. We ordered the patron margarita tower, it was good they got the order wrong but corrected it, wasn’t much liquor for the price of what we paid for it but the drinks were still good. The bathrooms were very clean, but the table we sat at was sticky. Overall, It could have just been a bad kitchen night and it was busy I don’t think this is a bad place to try, I would say they should definitely hire a better cook and improve presentation & taste. We had a good time overall and karaoke night was really fun. I myself didn’t interact with any of staff personally but with a busy night I think they handled...

During pandemic I saw that this establishment had opened and said to myself—I will come back to support at a later time. Well that time was Thursday, May 5th, 2022. We had just left an event downtown and was looking for a spot to grab a drink & food. We decided on Whatta Jerk.

We were treated at the door and offered table seating or booth. We chose to sit at the bar. My guest and I were given little plastic cups of room temperature water to start with while we previewed the menu.

We ordered (2) drinks and (2) jerk taco specials at $5/each to start. The tacos came with sauce on them. HOT sauce that made my nose run. The tacos were descent but just too damn hot to enjoy (for me). I was offered ice for my water because there was probably smoke coming out my nostrils.

2 more patrons came into the establishment (maybe regulars) seated at the bar and started off their night with water as they previewed the menu. They received 2 tall glasses of ice water & straws 👀. I looked down at my plastic cup like hmm 🤔 🤔🤔🤔.

The wait staff was very attentive. The table attendants did a good job of sanitizing and cleaning tables as guest left. Diverse staff.

We ordered (1) more drink and (2) shots of tequila. We closed the tab and was charged $120. We did not receive an itemized receipt so we have no idea how much the mixed drinks were.

TOTAL BILL (1) Rum Punch drinks (1) tequila pineapple (1) tequila lemonade (2) shots casamigos reposado (2) jerk taco meals @ $5/each = $120

More than likely I won’t visit or recommend this restaurant in...

Easily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in recent memory. We were seated quickly upon arriving on the outdoor patio. After placing our order (which we repeated when it was read back wrong) the food arrived with an incorrect item. The waitress notified us that she made a mistake and would work with kitchen staff to get us the sandwich we ordered in place of the salad that arrived. 20min after everyone else’s food had arrived I had to wave down the waitress and ask for my order to go since the rest of my group had finished eating. Nearly 10min after that I received my order and the waitress was not even apologetic about the wait. The place was not busy when we arrived, maybe 3 other tables 2 of which had food already. The service was beyond slow and the food was lukewarm when it did arrive. Additionally I had asked for a lime with my beer and the waitress first said she’d be right back with it then after 25min gave me an excuse why she couldn’t get it. If you couple that with the fact that the mixed drinks were 14$ each for 4 fluid oz of beverage it just isn’t worth what they’re charging at this place. I honestly think the food was just okay, the only reason this place is in business is probably from the overflow from the neighboring establishments that were both packed when...

Great staff, great food, great drinks. The frozen margaritas were wonderful and they come in peach or strawberry. The soft tacos seemed a little small, but they were filled all the way up with chicken and toppings. The whadda bowl was very generously filled, the fried egg is under the jerk chicken. Their in house jerk sauce used on the jerk tenders is sweet and spicy and it's better than any Mango habsnero I've ever had. And the tenders are grilled not deep fried. The fries are fresh cut and their not breaded so they will get a little soggy with all the sauces. It was a little pricey, the margaritas were $15.50 each and you can go through those pretty quickly. There's indoor and outdoor seating

I want this place to do a major overhaul because it's black owned and deserves to make the same money as the other brunch spots. I think the problem is that the restaurant is bit dated & old/ratty and the food is just not appeasing. We did not eat when we went because the appearance of the food was not it. For $55/person, the quality should be there. Now, the mimosas were good. Not super strong but I enjoyed the different flavors. The karaoke is the draw and could be a big money maker on the weekend if only these improvements could be made. My friends and I enjoyed the owner and staff very much.

Whadda Jerk has a unique vibe and looks like it could be a fun place for drinks, but I would not recommend the food. First of all there is no tap water, you have to pay $2 for bottles of water. The servers were friendly but service wasn’t particularly fast. The food was overpriced and a bit too spicy for my liking. There was also a ver meager amount of fries that came with our jerk tender grilled cheese. The inside is super cool, with swing chairs and dope lighting.
