I hope I don't get judged, my intentions were never to be a difficult customer... I went in today looking for something similar to pan fried noodles and asked the cashier for some suggestions since I had never been to this place before. She suggested some noodles that were like chow main and I decided to get them with brisket. That plus two drinks for my two drinks came up to $32 and some change. I have tried many Asian dishes before, but I honestly didn't like what was recommended to me. The brisket was good, but something about the sauce and the noodles were cooked in, I just couldn't eat it. I have worked in the food service before, and I understand how it is when dealing with difficult customers. That's why I always try to be polite, understanding, and not give anyone a hard time. I was also brought up to not waste food. I had planned on bringing home my leftovers and have my husband try it or do something with them so I could eat them. When I went up to the cashier to ask for a to-go container, she asked how my meal was. Normally I stay quiet if I dislike something, but the feeling of disappointment in my meal after spending that much didn't let me lie. I told her the truth, I hadn't enjoyed it. When I returned to my table, a staff member, whom I assume was the manager or the owner approached us to apologize for my experience with my meal and offered to replace it with a soup. She explained soups is what they are known for. I honestly felt embarrassed, that was never my intention to make anyone feel bad or anything. I wasn't looking for a refund or a remake. After some insisting to remedy the situation, I agreed to getting a soup. Ended up getting it to go since I had to return to my son's therapies. I too apologized to the lady who approached our table and explained to her that was not my intention. Hours later I heated up the soup, and I have to say it was really good. My husband ended up stealing it from me after trying it. I really appreciate that they went above and beyond to make something else for me. Not all businesses in food courts would do that. If you don't like something, too bad. This place showed that they do care about their customers. I would go back, but for the soup this time. Even though it didn't start off great, I think they made up for it and deserve a...
Read moreDelicious food, but the value of food to price just isn’t there.
Located in the main area of Haven city market near the back right. Parking is easy in the plaza. The place is clean, staff is friendly.
We’ve been here twice, the first time it was for their a la carte fried chicken and pork chop. Didn’t take pictures, but I think It’s pretty pricey for what you get. I will say flavors are good, plenty of seasoning and crispiness. I loved the spicy sauce that comes with it, goes very well with the chicken and pork chop. I won’t get it again, the amount of chicken for the price just isn’t worth it. There’s also a better Taiwanese chicken place in the same market. the pork chop I would again if I was in the mood, but again pricey for what you get, but at least it’s cheaper than the chicken
Had the OG beef noodle soup. The food is delicious, definitely something that made you feel like family made it at home. The broth was tasty, not too heavy and I love the hint of spice in it. Noodles were cooked well and the meat was very tender. But again, the price is just on the higher end for what you’re getting. The amount of noodles, two pieces of beef and two bok choy.
I really enjoyed the food here, but what’s really holding this place back is the food to price value. There’s so many options at Haven City that at their pricing or portioning, I would go somewhere else. If there’s times when I want some comfort food, I’d come back and...
Read moreSmall bowl with little beef shank. I used to go to some authentic Taiwan restaurants for this famous Beef shank noodle soup, so I know exactly what it suppose to look like and taste like. Plus, I like to try new restaurants and flavors in this newly opened food court in West Covina, so I ordered a beef shank noodle soup. I was very disappointed! The bowl was not a normal and traditional Chinese noodle soup bowl. It looks like a flower vase rather than a noodle soup bowl. By doing this, customers will get much less amount of food than they are paying for. Plus, the half raw vegetables are taking the most space on the top of the bowl. The reason is that, there are only two small pieces of beef shank on the top of the bowl. The container has a very narrow bottom area, so you are not going to get a lot of noodles and soup down there. The worst thing is that the soup was super greasy and salty, so I consider that it is very unhealthy for anybody to take so much fat and sodium at this restaurant. The price is not cheap for such an unhealthy noodle soup: it will cost you 17 dollars. Well, lessons learned, next time, I certainly will not come back to this...
