4.8* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 5* Value: 4* Service: 5* Would I go back / Recommend?: 5* (Definitely) Total check/person: $26 05/30/2025 We used to live in Fargo and this place was one of our favorite burger joints while we were there due to their unique burgers, fresh cut potato chips or fries with dipping sauces and selection of tap beers. When we got back to town, we had to stop for dinner. Along with the pre-requisite cold tap beers, tonight my wife ordered the Wham Bam Bacon Jam burger (see picture) and I opted for the Classic Chicken (see picture). As per what we've become accustomed to expecting at JL Beers, both of them were delicious. Those fresh cut potato chips and delicious dipping sauces just can't be beat. After eating tonight, our friends shared with us that they had gotten there early, so had their favorite appetizer - a large pretzel with homemade peanut butter. They had a little of the peanut butter left, so we tried it - and were hooked! We asked and found out that all they used for ingredients were honey roasted peanuts - so you know they were on our doorstop in Des Moines shortly after we returned home - and were ground into peanut butter that night! You definitely want to give it a try! If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow. Photos copyright: happyhourdesmoines.com & thefoodanddrinkguy.com

It was our first time visiting a JLB location and we were very pleased by the time we left! Even during the supper rush, the atmosphere was cozy, the employees we interacted with were friendly and helped us feel welcome. The timing from sitting down to ordering our food was acceptable for how busy the waitress was, allowing us time to thoroughly figure out what we wanted to try. The Bacon Jam burger I got with fries was delicious! I normally don't like onions, but I honestly devoured the burger with a handful of onions on it, as they were just the right level of flavor where they were subtle yet added to the overall flavor. Fries were nice and crispy, no soggy or over-done ones to be found. We also got the Root Beer Float and the current flight of beer-tasters, so it was fun to try what they had today and have something smooth to wash everything down. It was VERY worth the money spent, since they also can sell the 5oz flight glasses, as long as they have enough in stock, so we were able to purchase some for at home. Overall, a wonderful first experience here and we look forward to returning in the future! (Picture added during second visit :D )

Came here for the first time for a pitstop while on a road trip. Tried their burger and fries. I dont remember the name of the burger I got, but I think it was their most basic choice. It was so delicious. Their fries are really good too. I would recommemd this for a burger place. They had a good variety of different burgers to choose from. The only thing I didn't like was that they dont offer ice for your drinks. They serve the drinks in a chilled glass instead. I like an ice cold drink to wash down a burger and fries so I was kind of thrown off by that. A chilled glass doesnt keep your drink cold as long as ice in your cup does. So aside from the "no ice" factor everything else was great. Again, I would recommend, as their food was very flavorful. And the post card thing they do is really cool too.

You know when people say things like, " I don't know what I could say about this place that hasn't been said before." Or "It's always so amazing what else can you say about them. " Well going to try.

Jail beers is like the stepchild that is loved more than the full blooded child. They came into our lives and have not disappointed since they did. The Ragin Cajun?! Why would you do that to other burgers. Why would you ruin other Burgers by putting a burger like this in our availability. I mean I thank you for it. I am looking you in the eye emotionally, retina to retina and saying thank you for the Ragin cajun. I love the loaded chips they're delicious. Service is always great. They always have some meads on tap which I like or a mead. I should say mead not meads. Or at least the last few times I've been there they've had a mead. So thank...
