Horrible. I'm not sure what happened but Bombay Olive has really slipped from how good they were before. I had been going there for years! And the last couple of times I've gone, the food wasn't as good. And the last time, toward last week of March, I had the chicken tandoori and it was with the bone in. I never had it before with the bone in and like I said, I'd been going there for years! They didn't make me aware of this change, maybe it was only for that day, who knows. Plus I had the chicken biryani and asked for extra raita sauce and paid for it but when I checked it, neither container was filled to the top and one was only 1/2 way filled. I went back in to complain and 3 of your workers had explained to me that when you order the biryani, it oncomes with 1/2 of a container of sauce, but that conclusion didn't come easy as they had to explain it to me many times before I understood. I was polite but as I thought about it more and more, that was poor customer service. Most places would have given the customer what they wanted then explained "for the next time.....it will only be 1/2 a container of raita sauce. But it was 3 younger employees, in their 20s I assume, not the order men I remember from before. Then the chicken biryani was very salty, and that never happened before!!! I would have to add my own salt for a the years I had ordered it before. Then I ordered 2 meals, the tandoori and the biryani but didn't have the biryani until the next day. Then the sauce was very watered down and not thick at it use to be in the past. And it had been like that the last few times I ordered. Then, the WORST part was when I went to eat it the next day, the raita sauce was spoiled and watery and had clumps it it, the same as when cream goes bad. So I had to eat the biryani without the sauce I paid extra for. I never even finished the whole thing. In summary, sadly that is way too many problems to even take a chance and eat there again. I am sooooo disappointed and off to find another...
Read moreIf you are in the Hartford Connecticut area and you are craving Indian food, please avoid Bombay Olive at all costs. For over forty years I have been enjoying and making / serving Indian regional dishes to family and friends. Having gone in the early evening, I believe the “food” my family and I were served had been sitting in their buffet line over lunch, maybe yesterday’s lunch. I honestly believe they gave us the scraps from some previous meal. Lacking flavor and structure, the rice was mush. The Kheer was warm, sloppy grey paste without form or spice that manifested the scent of burned rice having been in the pot for far too many days. The Lamb Rogan Josh was gritty, acidy with barely recognizable lumps of what may once have been part of an animal. I tried to like it. I failed. When asked what drink they would pair with my meal, the server thought long and hard and said: “whiskey!” I’m not making that up. How could anyone make that up? My daughter’s Saag was grimily slimy with no hint of a smooth silky texture nor a strong tang of spinach. Her dish was flavorless. At an Indian restaurant, the meal was flavorless. This experience was a first for me and Indian Cuisine; I left wishing I had eaten something,...
Read moreI work at the hospital and we always order from here. Everytime there's an issue with the online ordering. It's not easy to use and quite frustrating. The other night we spent over 20 + minutes trying to order online. finally we decided to call because to get food delivered the order has to be ordered by 8:30 p.m. (as stated online) we called 8:15 p.m. we placed the order and asked the gentlemen to apply the online code we had for $10 off, he stated he could not add the code. We stated that per online you can use the code for $10 off, he stated he can't but will give us a free dessert. We stated we didn't want a free dessert, either the $10 off or a free appetizer, like the Naan bread we ordered. He said he would do 10% off the order. So to me he made up any excuse to not let us use the code. Then to top it off he asks if we were picking the order up. We said no, we already stated it was for delivery. He said they don't deliver after 8:30. We told him we called 8:15 and he kept putting us on hold to ask about the code. He said the drivers leave at 8:20 p.m. so we said how can they leave when online it says delivery orders must be in by 8:30. We just told him cancle the order and they just lost loyal...
