Worse place ever.when I entered restaurant after calling for grinders the overweight white lady who worked there was in a bad mood. She was talking to her kids who looked 12 yrs old about how she hates their dad and how she wanted him to die already.these comments made me and my girlfriend very uncomfortable also when she went to ring me up in her bad mood she said price which such tone also she kept giving me a dirty look cause we are interacial couple and I think she didn't approve of it.its 2019 lady grow up also she kept screaming at her kids about how much of a jerk their dad was and how bad he is which such infuriating vulgar not showing any concern for us aka the customers.also after leaving she started mumble things idk what she was saying but I'm sure it was her thoughts of.diapproval of my interacial relationship.not to mention I had bad allergic reaction after consuming my turkey grinder(allergic shellfish I informed this as well) guess she didn't pay attention and somehow shellfish traces unviewable to the eye was in food.i swell so bad I threw grinder in garbage ill never go there again and will never recommend to anyone.worse place ever and grinder lettuce was bad.bread was delicious tho.worse customer service, worse place ever.wish I could give...
Read moreOrdered online 1 large pizza, 1 small pizza and an order of fries. My husband went to pick it up and was told they didn't have it. He explained we ordered and paid for it online and the cook/owner? lost his mind. Another customer was there with the same problem. My husband called and I forwarded him the receipt. As my husband was talking to me the guy took his phone out of his hand and began to talk to me in the most condescending way calling me sweetheart and grilling me on what was ordered. He wanted to know what size fries and I said I don't know but they cost $7.99 and he told me their fries cost $6.99 and I said then you overcharged me. Come to find out they only sell one size of fries. He spoke so belittling to me that I hung up and left my husband to deal with him. Except for the fact we paid he would have left. As my husband was waiting a customer came in with an order for 34 pizzas. If you get an exceptionally large order that you are struggling to fulfill then you turn off online orders. We got our order finally after about 45 minutes and after being a loyal customer through multiple owners that was...
Read moreElmwood Pizza & Grinders is a hole in the wall restaurant a few doors down from where the recently closed Tapas was located. Saturday I tried the lasagna dinner there. Overall, my dinner was wonderful. In quality, the lasagna was tastier, the portion larger, and the price cheaper than the equivalent dinner at the Olive Garden down the road. Also, the Italian salad was delicious, and the veggies crispier, and fresher than the "all you can eat" salad also at the Olive Garden. There grinders are also very good, better in my opinion, than most chains like Firehouse Sandwiches or Subway. Maybe there were three tables in the dining room. There was a picture of Comiskey Park in Chicago next to my table, but that was it for ambience. They also do not serve liquor. I look forward to trying their pizza next week, and comparing it to Pepe's which is a stone's throw away. Good luck Mr. or Mrs. or Ms. Phelps. This post will self-destruct...
