Pokeworks — Restaurant in West Hartford

Food was fine and service was okay at first and I dined in. Things took a turn when I placed an online order for a friend. Two of the workers were talking and 4 minutes after I submitted the order, I noticed that they did not seem to see the online order printer. I went up to ask if the online order went through and they said "It just came in". I acknowledged that statement and took a seat. I proceeded to watch one of the workers make the bowl. She placed the base and protein in the bowl I ordered. She then proceeded to fill in 3 other orders that were after my order. I thought, okay once these 3 other bowls have their bases/proteins, she will finish mine. There was no one else waiting in the store. She put in the mix-ins for my bowl and then proceeded to work on the next order without finishing mine first. After seeing this, I stood up (I did not say anything) and she immediately said "I am finishing your bowl now". I watched as she finished the mix-ins for the 2nd order and then went back to finish my order. She handed me the bag in a rude way. This seems inappropriate given that I waited almost 20 minutes for my bowl when no one else was in the store.

Edit: Just to say, this location is usually pretty friendly and one of my favorite treats, unfortunate...

The coconut mango haupia is amazing! Before it used to be filled to the top now it’s 3/4 filled. I recently bought a few and they all had water settled on top. I came home mixed in it and it made it worse. When I came back in to tell them about my experience as I was buying more. They told me that the owner said not to sell them with the water inside. She proceeded to go and make more. She even asked how many I previously bought. I told her two. She comes out with 4 and charges me for two and puts the other two on the shelf. So that was basically $11 bucks down the drain. Their spam musabi is also really great. I asked a simple question, which was how do they get the spam to not be so salty. I never got a direct answer just that the sauce they add on top may have something to do with it. Which i know it doesn’t because I eat spam all the time and a sauce doesn’t take out the salt content of the spam itself. Never the less those are my go to items. I’m known for always coming in and getting those together. Just sharing my experience. The staff is super nice. I just thought it was unfair to be a returning customer and have no sympathy for my...

Pandemic Update:

The restaurant is now takeout only with guided traffic and closed restrooms. The customers are distanced from the ingredients during the ordering process and payments can be done with contactless payment.

You would still need to press the touchscreen to finish payment to choose the tip option and touch the door handle and exiting the restaurant.

Solid Poke shop with great customer service! I had the 3 protein Choose your Poke. The Ahi tuna, salmon, and shrimp were super fresh and tasty. It had plenty of options to choose from and the staff was very patient to explain what each ingredient is. With a soft drink, it came to $16 and had filled completely after my 16 hours fast. I felt satisfied without the guilt of binging on junk food. I finished eating the bowl with good conscious and in good spirits, in my car.

The only annoyance was the cheap chopsticks that were provided. It was rough and its unpleasant texture was accentuated by the silkiness of the seafood that I had ordered.
