I looked to my south at 35 miles an hour and it was just there. Taste-gra-la. The treat I've been craving for nearly 30 years. That I didn't notice it in the month prior since it had been open is inexusable and will haunt me as time lost forever. Doner Kebab is somewhat similar to the heavier taste and presentation of a gyro. How do I describe a fantastic blend of very thinly sliced beef or chicken spit roasted to a fresh, delicate Mediterranean spice infused flavor, set atop crisp , lightly seasoned salad vegetables, and loosley wrapped in a thin, flavorful pita type bread with chilled taziqui style sauce served on the side? There's no simple way, it is just one of those combinations of taste, style, and presentation that capture the true essence of a one of a kind comfort food that is destined for your automatic dining rotation. It made a strapping young high school graduate stop his non stop whining for mama's home cooking by The third bite in 1987. The wrap version is a great lunch or later in the evening meal. The plated version a bit heartier and will fulfill a healthy appetite at suppertime. Regardless, the portion will always be just one bite shy of perfection. And you will pop up from your seat and hit the ground running. And smiling. And calculating the next time you're "gettin' another". The lovely people who've brought this from there Azerbaijani home to our doorstep here in the valley did so with respect, attention to detail, and certainly a bit of love. I think the Spartan feel of this new eatery is intentional and left to provide us the opportunity to color in the experience with our unique Utah enthusiasm and sense of comraderie. Topped off with sweet poklava and an ice cold fountain drink, and I believe your return visits will be when's, not if's. I've published many reviews. You won't read another written like this by my hand. Go early, go often, bring a friend, make a...
Read moreWe should’ve trusted our instincts.
We walked into this kebab joint hoping for a solid, no-frills meal—but the moment we stepped through the door, there was a weird feeling in the air. You know that split second when something just feels off? That was our first clue. The floors were slick and scattered with crumbs. But we figured, hey, maybe the food is worth it. Spoiler: it wasn’t.
We approached the counter, only to find the menus were grimy—literally sticky to the touch. Gross, but maybe they just had a busy day? We tried to brush it off. The staff greeted us with the kind of enthusiasm you’d expect from someone who’s just been handed jury duty. No eye contact, no welcome, just a dull stare.
We ordered beef and lamb kebabs in a wrap. As we sat down (after wiping our own table clean with a napkin), we noticed more signs: the bathrooms were locked—permanently, apparently—and not in an “out of order” way, more like they were part of a haunted house exhibit. The place had that faint, sticky-film you only get in places that haven’t been deep-cleaned since 2011.
When the food came, it somehow managed to look both unappetizing and sad. The beef and lamb were dry, chewy, and flavorless—like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp since the Clinton administration. The “flatbread” was basically a limp tortilla masquerading as something it clearly wasn’t. Every bite was a reminder that we could’ve just gone literally anywhere else.
By the time we finished, we didn’t feel full—we felt unclean. I actually said the words, “I need a shower,” out loud as we walked to the car. That’s not a great thing to say after eating a kebab. Or ever.
Bottom line: there were warning signs, and we ignored them. Learn from our mistake. If you walk in and your first thought is “this place could really use a mop,” trust your...
Read moreThe owners go out of their way to make sure you get quality and fresh prepared food. Very friendly. Nice environment. Expect to relax a little, wind down from the big city life and just spend a little time. This is not a "I need something super quick" option. You get quality food for a really good price. The owners are still working on getting their food as authentic as possible (which this is the most authentic I've gotten it in the US yet). Understand though that the meat here in the US just doesn't quite taste the same as in Europe. Lambs here just taste different. This business is still in their early stages and thrives to make progress. Please consider this when you go there. I love their commitment and efforts. This is a business I support. I love their food. On another note, I usually don't like chicken doener, but this was the best i ever had (not even in Europe the chicken meat could convince me). Also their menu is very simple and easy to choose from. I usually spend way too much time trying to figure out what I want...
