Understand at the outset of this review that my wife and I have been going to Enjoy weekly since almost the day they opened. And while save one or two outstanding servers the service is not by any means in the Michelin top tier, just adequate, and I still would always tip at least 20%. The food by in large is pretty darn good for American Chinese food. We always felt our business was appreciated, UNTIL this evening. They had yet to get "busy" and we were seated promptly. The server was one we had been waited on before and while not great, as I said adequate. I inquired about a dish I wanted to try but it was labeled "spicy" so I asked if it could be toned down. He said yes and asked on a 1 to 10 scale what would I like. While to me anyway, heat is NOT flavor, but in a moderate amount it can and does add to the food, so I said 5, that's moderate right? When the dish arrived as usual it looked appealing so I dug in. When I could finally get enough water in me and get my eyeballs to stop sweating, I finally got our servers attention and told him that the only use the dish had was for starting camp fires. He looked at me and actually said, "I'll SEE if there is anything we can do", what? He toddled off and after I am sure was a summit meeting, he said "Sorry", can't do anything." Now I have been in business for 40+ years, and currently am at minimum 2 weeks out for appointments, I first off would not even imagine saying "sorry, to bad so sad", let alone just walk off and have another server bring the bill, which he did. And when I said that we were sorry that a long term relationship was going to end because of the attitude presented that server said, "OK", and he too toddled off. I went to the counter to pay and as soon as I started toward the Owner, she went in the kitchen and let another server take payment. To him I too mentioned we would not be returning, he too, "OK, do you want the tip on the card?" WTF. Now I right now have more business than I have ever had, but even given that, I would NEVER let a customer experience the level of service we received, new or long time customer, and damn sure never give the "we could not care less you are unhappy" attitude to anyone. BUT, I guess I've been doing wrong for all these years. Who needs happy customers when the tables are full, "right Now?" Like I said, it's OK food, service adequate, but NOT worth feeling that your patronage is NOT appreciated or better yet, NEEDED. They will get no more of mine, but then...
ย ย ย Read moreI was really excited about this restaurant, but then really disappointed. Chinese in a strip mall is usually fantastic! My husband and I loved the decor in this tiny place and were impressed by the menu. The appetizers came and were served in a neat way. They were standard--nothing very impressive, and like other reviewers have mentioned, their cream cheese wontons taste like they contain vanilla frosting. Then the mains arrived way too soon to be cooked fresh. They looked appetizing but were less flavorful than frozen food from the grocery store. You could tell they order frozen chicken with breading in bulk, heat it up, throw it in a bucket of sauce, and call it a unique menu item. I had the tangerine lemon pepper chicken which is marked as spicy on the menu and was anything but. It was just super sweet. My husband has General Tso chicken and it was the same--bland, mild, and the kind of chicken you bite into and have the breading fall off of like a shell. Even the chicken from Panda Express doesn't do that. We felt like we may get sick from eating it. Even the ham fried rice was subpar and had just a few cubes of ham in it.The waitress noticed after 2 bites we did not want to eat any more and asked for the check. She asked if there was a problem and we explained it just wasn't any good. We didn't want to try anything else from the menu, knowing we'd just get the same frozen chicken with a different type of sauce. They did not offer us a discount and just shrugged it off, like they're used to people being grossed out by their food. All of the employees were sitting at a table hanging out and ignoring the customers, and seemed annoyed that my husband had to walk over to them to ask for the check. This place is not authentic, and doesn't even have decent food if you're craving cheap Americanized Chinese dishes. Needless to say, we...
ย ย ย Read moreWe have been dining at Enjoy for several years now. I go with work friends and family. There food is very good, however the service is AWFUL!! They offer "gluten free" items which is one main reason we like to go there. The past 3-4 times we have been, the lady (I believe she is the owner - Mrs. Wong??) has been exceptionally rude when I have asked for the gluten free fried rice. She has told me that it is more money, that the gluten free soy sauce is so expensive, that she has to use two scoops of rice instead of one (I have NO IDEA what she is talking about or what she means by this) and that she has to charge more because she has to turn another burner on to make it. I am completely fine being charged extra and I have told her this several different times. I get it.....gluten free is more.......I understand......I still want the rice. She has just continued to argue with me the last few times. It is almost like she is trying to talk me out of what I want!! At one point she walked right out to our table (there were seven of us dining there that day for lunch) and was literally in my face about the same issue!! Extremely unprofessional and very embarrassing for me and those I was with. This is probably the worst example of bad customer service that I have ever encountered. Every time we go in there are always new servers - untrained, slow and they actually act scared of her. All around POOR SERVICE!! The last time I was in (Saturday March 2nd) she actually had the audacity to tell me that "one of my friends" had been in and "apologized" for me asking for gluten free rice!! WHATEVER!! It's really too bad that I will NEVER go back because the food is actually really good. They need to realize that the customers are only asking for what they offer (gluten free) and that the customers are what keep them...
