Jason's Deli 1509 W. New Haven Ave West Melbourne, FL 32904 3.5 Stars (Chain restaurant review) With 250 locations spread across 28 States, I was bound to land in one eventually. Jason's Deli was founded in 1976 By Joe Tortice, Jr. in Beaumont TX. The original location at 112 Gateway St. in Beaumont is still in operation. Named after Joe's eldest son, Jay, the menu includes basic deli fare, with the added plus of being free from MSG, high-fructose corn syrup, dyes, colors, and artificial flavors; however, I'm guessing the free ice cream station is the biggest draw for most customers. Finding my way to their West Melbourne location on W. New Haven Ave. I sauntered in for what I hoped were good old-fashioned Deli victuals. Tyson is our service assistant today, and this guy is fantastic. He is a real throwback to the service received in the 60s,70s and 80s. I asked Tyson for their take on the deli standard of a Rueben, Ruben The Great. Packed with one-half pound of hot corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, 1000 Island dressing, and lovingly packed between two slices of NEW Marbled Rye bread, this was certainly reminiscent of the Carnegie Jewish Deli in New York City. Is this gourmet? Not by a long shot. Is this going to garner any culinary awards? Most likely no. Regardless, it is one heck of a sandwich. On the way out, I noticed a peculiar site of the pre-COVID landscape: a salad bar. Yep, they have a salad bar. I thought they went out with COVID and the germ-a-phobe/allergy crowd. Nope. There is one right here in West Melbourne. It doesn't appear to have the frozen bacon flavored bits of yore, but rather what appears to be fresh ingredients (unheard of). Had I known, I would certainly have ordered it. The Big Boy says, “If you get a lunch break at work, swing by and hit the bar. The salad bar, that is, and don't forget Rueben the Great!”

My first time eating here. Came in with my 4 children. I had no issues with ordering. Alex the cashier was very helpful in helping me decide what I would eat. I had the Italian sandwich that came with lays chips (not terrible) 1 one my children has the kids chicken tenders with chips and he told me he’s had better but it was fine and 3 of my children had cheese pizza which they loved! The wait for our food wasn’t long at all. The environment seemed very friendly but I immediately notice after sitting down waiting for my food the cleaner cleaning tables using the same cloth that’s used to clean the seats. There was only one cleaner busting tables and isn’t too quick at it. I do applaud him actually working though. When we sat next to the bathroom and I happen to look over while sending my children in to wash their hands before they ate and I notice the doors were completely disgusting. Just that alone made me not want to go in. Upon finishing our food, I saw the cleaner spraying tables down next to a father and his daughter and he happen to spray the father and back of the chair as well as the fathers phone and food! 🫣The father said hey you’re spraying me, and I’m not sure what the cleaner told him. (I would imagine an apology) cleaner continued to clean table and and chair seat but left the back of the chair dripping wet. I think if his spray bottle was set to spray and not stream the guest wouldn’t have been sprayed. I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news, but this place needs to re-train the cleaners and overall step up it’s cleanliness. I don’t even want to know what it’s like in the kitchen. This place has so much potential to keep guest from having bad experiences.

Sunday evening dinner time around 5pm....not busy at all. Maybe 2 tables of two people there. So quiet. Ordered food. Preston was nice and attentive. Didn't try to sell me extra food that I didn't want, which was nice. Service on getting my order or 2 sandwiches took forever. I ordered 2 beef eaters, pasta salad and Mac n cheese. Oh and a side salad that I made. The quality has gone way down. The sandwich was cold when I got home. Dipping juices were cold and not even half a cup. Mac n cheese was a week old boxed Kraft Mac n cheese. So gummy it wasn't even editable. Disgusting. Salad bar was clean and everything looked fresh. If you love salads this place is a good choice because the food seemed fresh and you can build your own. Overall, what you spend, unfortunately is a lot for the quality. It's a shame because this place used to be packed on an evening for dinner.

We met some family members that flew into the area late in the day. It was awesome to catch up with them and equally awesome to share a meal at Jason's Deli!!!! Melbourne just got much closer to St. Lucie County!!!! We were all tired and hungry after waiting for our folk for 3.5 hours, but the gracious folks at Jason's Deli treated us like we were their first customers of the day. We told the really nice lady in charge we'd be back and thanks for the awesome service and great food!!!!! Our sponsor daughter is vegan and she loved the awesome salad bar and chili that she had to confirm was vegan - it certainly was and the lady confirmed it!!!! My wife had the world's largest stuffed potato that the lady confessed was two large potatoes combined & stuffed with meat, butter, and sour cream. Our sponsor grandson had a nice deli sandwich but asked for ciabbatia bread that he inhaled!!!! I inhaled the best deli sandwich I've had since my Katz's, Carnegie, & 42nd street delis days in NYC!!!! My sandwich had pastrami and corned beef - it was awesome and reminded me of the Brisketball sandwich at Carnegie!!!! DO NOT miss out on their super tasty spicy seafood gumbo soup it has a kick!!!! Next visit to Jason's Deli I will have pastrami and turkey that I deferred to order since we finished our meals at 10:30 pm and I still had an hour drive south. Incidentally, Jason's Deli closes at 10:00 pm and the nice lady checked to see if our sponsor daughter was finished with the salad bar and advised us to take our time departing while he staff worked feverish on their very organized closing. She then mentioned that my sandwich had double rolls of corned beef since they were not keeping the one roll that was prepped. Like the brisketball (beef & turkey & ham) I could only finish half of Jason's two meet sandwich on rye. St. Lucie County needs a deli like the Melbourne Jason's Deli with an equally outstanding and very service oriented staff - oh...

Joel and Fabian run this premier Jason's Deli establishment in West Melbourne, Florida. I have been a long-standing patron of this blessing to Brevard County since they first opened up! I have been a Brevard County resident for over 40 years, and whenever I have the opportunity I stop in and get a drink and/or something to eat especially when I'm next door doing business with the best cell provider in the world, T-Mobile! There is no accident that they are this close in proximity! Not only does Jason's Deli offer the finest, most affordable, as well as healthy array of food to order, their staff is also world-class like the food they serve us as patrons! Jason's Deli is a world class restaurant delivering superior customer service with value added, and as mentioned previously, the food that they serve. In addition, I have been informed that delivery to your residence via the multitude of delivery services is available. I understood what Fabian informed me about today because I have worked for Door Dash, Uber Eats, among others. Fabian recommended Door Dash as they best one to choose for delivery. I have delivered food on Jason's Deli's behalf on countless occasions. Superior customer value with value added goes hand-in-hand with world class organizations like these mentioned. Besides loving their Salad Bar, and not only highly recommending this, but my utmost favorite choice every time I dine in at Jason's Deli, is their Rueben Sandwich! I have had many other menu items over the years, but my highest recommendation is to try their Ruben Sandwich. I have traveled around the world 3 times in my life and visited 6 countries, and I have never had any meal compare to this! 5 stars is not enough but this is all Google will allow. Thank you Jason's Deli, and their staff to continuing to be such a blessing to Brevard County, Florida especially this West Melbourne...
