I'm very disappointed with Enzo Bruni WNY and not exactly because of the food. My partner and I dined here last week and had such a pleasant experience that we were sure that we would come back. We shared the "Mike Corleone" Panuozzo (sandwich, $19) and 'La Bruni' Pizze (personal pizza, $23), and both were delicious. Being a BYOB establishment, we also brought our own bottle of wine. The total tab for these two items, plus taxes and tip, came to be $54.82. It's true what others said about EB prices, that they were a bit high for the area but, it's fair to say also that, based on our experience, the two items we tried were not "the run of the mill" pizza and sandwich you find everywhere. Tonight (Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023) we decided to go back to Enzo Bruni for the second time and enjoy their food. We ordered to share the same sandwich we had ordered the first time (Mike Corleone, $19), Tagliatelle alla Bolognese ($22) and Pollo alla Parmigiana ($22). We brought a bottle of Coppola Claret to enjoy with the food. The total tab this time was EIGHTY EIGHT DOLLARS AND FIFTY THREE CENTS! To our surprise, we noticed that the waiter had added what appeared to be a bo gus $8 charge for "Service Bar". When we questioned it, he said that the charge was for our own bottle of wine, that he was told to do so by the wife of the owner of the restaurant whom, by the way, had been our server on the previous visit and didn't charge anything for bringing our own bottle of wine. We were in disbelief and, yes!, quite annoyed too. In all the years we've been dining out at BYOB restaurants we have never been charged for bringing our own bottle of wine. Sorry but, we find this practice to be quest ion able (see below) and, for that reason, we don't think that we would come back to Enzo Bruni again. Good luck! New Jersey restaurants may advertise that they are BYOB, provided the municipality in which the restaurant is located permits BYOB. In addition, RESTAURANTS ARE PRO HIBITED FROM CHARGING ANY FEE, COVER, SERVICE OR CORKAGE CHARGE FOR CUSTOMERS WHO BRING THEIR OWN WINE OR...
Read moreEverything about this place was tiny--except the price. Tiny location, tiny portions, even tiny chairs!
I'm willing to spend to get high quality food, but this was sub par. The pizza did not have Napolitano dough, it was like semolina. And the pizza was actually the only decent item on the menu (depending on what you get, the pizza with potatoes on it was terrible, but the bufalina is pretty good).
The rest of the food was was child sized and flavorless. Tagliatelle Bolognese was literally not big enough for my 6 year old. The chicken Milanese was dry, no sauce, and no option of sides (extra small french fries and a piece of chicken the size of my child's fist for $25, no mashed potatoes or side of veggies, just french fries!).
Just another Italian in New Jersey charging New York City prices and serving the tiniest NYC portions.
No I do not recommend this place....
Read moreI highly anticipated trying this restaurant, as I am an accomplished Italian home cook, raised by parents who home cooked every meal using high quality but simple ingredients. This restaurant quality is outstanding, from the interesting options on the menu using simple ingredients so they shine as a perfect meal. The homemade pastas are superior to the ordinary Italian restaurant fare. Without being overly stuffed, we ate to our delight and complete satisfaction. I plan to return routinely until I try every item on the menu. Desserts were super light, refreshing, delicious. They are very gracious hosts. See you very soon!! BYOB and municipal...
