My two friends and I went in for lunch this past Sunday, 3/9/25. I live just down the block (walking distance), we hadn't seen each other for a while, and I've always wanted to try out the restaurant. It was my first time there. My friends were coming up from Boca. The space was so charming, just as photo'd online, and the waiters were very accommodating. The food, however, was not at its price point, and no space or wait staff can ever do enough to make up for bad food. We shared the quiche of the day as a starter; manchego and mushroom. Plently of onions too, which I'm actually OK with. The dough was undercooked on the bottom, the quiche was too wet, and the side of home fries was cold. My main dish was half soup of the day (tomato bisque), and half smoked turkey/avocado/brie on toasted baguette. The thimble (were the cups in the wash?) of tomato bisque was oddly mealy, and it had annoying strings of basil that I had to pick out of my mouth like an animal. And the smoked-turkey protein in the sandwich was, I kid you not, sliced Oscar Mayer packaged garbage from the cold aisle at Publix. You know, next to the eggs and dairy? Not even Boars Head from behind the deli counter! It was the crap that on-the-go parents buy for their kids. Everything was of course edible, but highly disappointing, especially for 20 bucks a dish. We ended with the carrot cake. Thick, hard frosting, but tasty cake. However, again, the waiter admitted that it was the last slice left. I had wondered how long it might have been sitting in the fridge. The restaurant should toss their bakes after, what, three-four days max? Or just give it to the staff. The cake was almost just a stick of butter re-solidified. Don't try to sell off any old bakes because your hot foods are already at Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmare level. I slightly want to go back for a second try whenever I do go out again (maybe dinner on a prime night is different?), but I will probably hedge my bets, and try a different restaurant...
Read moreOMG! I can’t believe I moved back to South Florida a few years ago and today (Monday) was my first visit to Belle & Maxwell’s! If I could give it 10Stars I would! It is Soho chic.. trendy Palm Beach casual with a beautiful outdoor patio! I would go just to see the stained glass artwork, beautiful mirrors, eclectic tables and chairs and amazing chandeliers and lighting fixtures. I haven’t even gotten to their amazing menu choices and beyond delicious food! From everything I have read and all my friends they are known for their Quiche! I was determined to try it! Today’s quiche was zucchini and cheddar! Perfect! It comes with a side of greens with tomato, a piece of fruit and parmigiana fries. Really! My sister ordered the side of parmigiana fries. Please refer to my photos.. Absolutely the most delicious quiche I’ve ever had. I am a great cook and make a killer quiche but this runs circles around mine. It was light and custardy.. and full of flavor.. the greens and tomato were amazing with so were the fries.. the fries are like having a delicious crispy sliced baked potato encrusted in parmigiana. I ordered-the Riesling wine which was cold and perfect! The food came out piping hot and delicious! The service was excellent! They were busy but still adhering to all CDC guidelines including social distancing. The outdoor patio was busy as was the dining room and the service was still excellent. Their menu has some great salads like pear and Gorgonzola.. warm goat cheese, flatbreads, sandwiches and unbelievable soups like lentil! I was too full for dessert but will definitely try the coconut cream pie or ricotta cheesecake next time. They have a great selection of desserts, espresso, cappuccino etc! A great happy hour and beautiful bar area! Parking is street side and a small parking lot... What can I say but this is a fabulous restaurant and I’m a fan! I...
Read moreWe had reservations for this evening. We arrived just before two other parties arrived. There were several customers dining, but I would not say they were busy by any means. We were seated with a paper holiday menu, and waited. No staff came by our table. No water was offered. We did not realize there was a holiday menu, and wanted to inquire as to whether we could order off of their main menu and figured we would ask the waiter when ge came by. No one came by. My husband did get up and ask if we could order off of the main menu and was advised that we could as our party was larger than three. My husband came back to sit down. We are a Latino family. As we were waiting, a black couple was seated, and then a white couple. A waiter did start to walk towards our table, he then stopped towards the end of our table, looked at us and then looked the white couple, and then went and took their drink order. We waited 25 minutes at this point. The white couple was just seated a moment prior. At this point I looked at my husband and said let's go. We got up and left. No one batted an eye. As we walked back to our vehicle my husband suggested that we try again another evening. Absolutely not! Our patronage was clearly not welcomed. In my 50+ years of fine dining experiences, I have never felt a sense of racism directed towards me, nor have I EVER felt compelled to leave a review highlighting such an experience. This was a terrible experience. I am still incredibly shocked and saddened that we were...
