Ra Jay’s Soul Food Lounge — Restaurant in West Palm Beach

Went today after reading the Google reviews and needed dinner as we took a short vacation to the area. Found this place and upon entering its small and has no uniformity with furniture looks like stuff is just everywhere. Not a place to eat in at all. Got greeted right away and was told to wait as she was working on other orders. Once done she took our orders and mind you she seems to be the ONLY person working doing everything which is crazy but I get it times are rough. We waited about 25 mins for our food. I had the smothered wings, collard greens, Mac and cheese. My husband had meatloaf, yams and collard greens. We took the food to go and parked around the corner to eat. First bite of collard greens didn't like them at all flavor was off and seemed like they were water logged. Mac and cheese no good sorry to say. Tasted old and reheated not fresh! Wings were decent but way too salty due to the gravy. I couldn't eat it because of the salt. I ended up trashing my meal a complete waste of money. Then my husband did not like his food either, the yams seemed to be canned yams. Not even candid yams they had no glaze, no brown sugar just plain yams and sadly he said the meatloaf tasted old and he didn't like the consistency of it. He trashed his meal as well. Oh and the cornbread was not good. Now the place had people coming to pick up orders so I am not sure if it was an off day today for her. Or people in the area don't know good soul food but this place ain't it. I wish her luck and hopefully she can find help and get her entire restaurant in order and sweep all those spider webs under the table by the windows that's a huge turn off. I’ve been wanting to get some soul food for a while and could not get here due to distance (I live in Jupiter). I was down south and decided to come here on my way home and I am glad I did. I ordered the meatloaf meal with macaroni and cheese and collard greens as my two side and I also ordered a side of candied yams. I bought a slice of cake and a lemonade. I spent $32. While I did not enjoy the meatloaf (it had a brown gravy and I prefer meatloaf with a ketchup sauce on top), the sides were all amazing. My favorite was the collard greens. If you’re looking through the reviews, yes give her a try!! Honestly this is the best soul food restaurant here in West Palm Beach as of now. I’ve tried everything on the menu I’ve been coming here for a few months and order here once a week sometimes two!
