We planned to have a bbq at this park...it had only a few pavilions and homeless people were using them as kitchens but didn’t mind consolidating under one to allow my family to use one of the pavilions. With a little patience and cleaning (just some sweeping and picking up of trash) we had a spot and the grill going. The grass was so lush and green no brown spots my kids loved rolling in it and laying on it. There isn’t a gate or fence or anything at the waters edge so keep an eye on your little ones. The playground was in good working condition and they had plenty of swings. I just wished I had a boat or jet skis that was a nice spot. And when it got dark we laid on that lush grass eating dessert and watching all the boats and lights on the water go back and forth they loved it. Overall it was a nice park people jogging walking dogs a full soccer game going I can see why the homeless chose that park but they were also nice enough to move and share the space so we had a...
Read moreIt was a lovely location by the intercostal & we couldn't have picked a nicer day on Labor day to visit, but unfortunately this park was dirty, covered with trash all over the playground especially, which is why I brought my 3 year old there to begin with... We decided to take a walk around the piers & park towards the flag area & there was a noticable homeless crowd all over the park. Not that I'm judgemental but it wasn't a decent environment to bring a young child such as mine. The piers were ok, plenty of people fishing. If that's what you're looking for then this could be the spot. I wouldn't know. But if you're looking to bring your child to this park I'd say skip it & go to the one down the street osprey Park. Idk. If you're just an adult looking for a place to sight see & see the water & reflect, go fishing, this is a good spot. Just don't recommend for little children is all. The picture from the reviews isn't showing how much trash & just dirt is on...
Read moreWAY TOO MANY HOMELESS PEOPLE! Thank God I walk with a chunky pitbull! I did not feel safe at all! This was my first time there; I'm a woman just out for a serene walk with my dog; THERE WERE HOMELESS MEN COMING OUT OF THE WOODWORK! (There are homeless women there as well, but overall, I didn't feel safe). And there are lots of woodwork. The fishing pier is shabby, there's trash all over the park, and the place reeked of urine! OMG, THE URINE SMELL WAS SO BAD! I loved seeing the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial statue, but there were homeless people lying directly on the ground underneath it. Like, what happened to the dream? The stench was gut wrenching! This place is filled with people life grace up on, and who gave up on life! It was so depressing! I had a better walking/strolling experience outside of the park, on the walkway path, near the street. When I saw the sun setting, I hurried back to my car; ..wouldn't want to be caught out there...
