Winedown Café & Wine Bar — Restaurant in West Reading

I've enjoyed this place, I think the management is doing a good job. There is some room to improve but that's with all places, really.

The staff is super pleasant and the asthetic is trendy. Their whiskey menu is phenomenal and it's quickly become my go to spot for bourbon, and its nice to have the option to sit at the main bar or a smaller seperate bar viewing the whiskey. The food is tasty and feels creative, New American with some Asian influence. The wine list and cocktails are just okay, tough compentition in the area.

I wish they had a website and an online menu that was up to date. It helps as a diner to be able to plan a meal, and I get excited when I see something new on the menu. I also wish they had a bourbon list in the restaurant with prices and ideally a description instead just lots of bottles behind the bar. It creates a lot of friction for customers having to ask price per pour or Google tasting notes for any bourbon they're considering trying.

But...

Decided to pop in for an after dinner drink. We did however get the olive appetizer (green olives and some crustini and bread sticks) which was a pleasant little bit of nibbles.I noticed we were probably the oldest in the place...lots of quiet hipsters :).The place had a nice low light atmosphere and wasn't a rowdy scene. I am usually a wine drinker but they had a couple of nice selections of Scotch. We asked our server a question on them and she called over the bartender...he knew his stuff!!! You could tell he was knowledgeable and very passionate about it! I noticed he would describe a wine or whiskey as he delivered to the other tables. This made it an awesome experience. This is Winedown 2.0 in every way! Happy hour with decent wine and whiskey at affordable prices. I almost hate to do this review because I'd love to keep this gem all to myself. They have a $20 per person dinner on Wednesdays and it's fabulous. 2 people get a bottle of wine and 2 entrees for $40. Whoever is setting this up/running the place kudos to you. Food is wonderful, portion sizes are perfect! I love that I don't need a to go bag. I can eat an appetizer, entree and desert and not feel like I need an hour on the treadmill.
