My wife and I decided to come visit “Sunny side up” for the first time. What caught our attention was the rating that this restaurant had (4.5), so we wanted to give it a try. Now, I hate to be that one customer who is observant and has been waiting for service accordingly. When we arrived, there was already a wait time. There were 3 parties ahead of us. We waited about 25 minutes. Nothing too crazy. When we were called, the host told us, “ sit anywhere you’d like in this area”. We sat down. Another party comes in a minute after we had sat down. And then maybe 5 mins later another party comes in. Our server (Sarah) comes and asks us “what can I get you for drinks”. We told her what we wanted, and she comes and brings our drinks accordingly. My wife goes to the restroom, and while she’s at the restroom. The 2 parties that came in after us, already have there food placed and not even 10 mins, they get there food served. Mind you my wife is already back from the restroom and we are still waiting for our food to be placed. My wife notices our server talking to other employees and serving customers before us. 30 mins have past since we sat down and had our drinks. Finally our server (Sarah) notices that she forgot to place our order and heads over to us. Very kindly she’s asking “what would you like to order”. We place our order. Another 20-25 mins go by for our food to be brought to us. The 2 parties who’ve been served by a different waitress our done eating and our getting ready to pay for there meals. And then finally, our food comes out. I’m not sorry for writing this descriptive review. Because we were expecting good service. Our patience was done after waiting so long just to eat breakfast that we could have made at our home. Now you might say, “then you should’ve made breakfast at home”. And that’s fine. But we wanted to go out and eat breakfast which we rarely do. Because we already cook enough at home lol 😆. But honestly speaking. This restaurant is nice inside. The atmosphere is pretty good. The food is average. But the service wasn’t there. Sarah should’ve been more attentive to us when we arrived. Not that she wasn’t doing nothing. But we had other parties being served before us who had came after us. To me service is everything. I work in the industry of serving clients. And all I do is give great service. If a client has an issue with my service I will gladly acknowledge them for that and do whatever it takes to make them happy again. We left from this restaurant unsatisfied and we were bumbed out about the service.
This is what the owner has to say after my review👇🏽
“We will kindly ask you to cook at home next time;)”
Me: Very professional and sincere for you to lose potential customers. I understand it’s not easy running a business. But this isn’t how you respond to a review as the owner. What I would’ve expected for a response would be, “very sorry we didn’t meet your expectations, please come back and we will gladly serve you accordingly”……. That’s a much more considerate and professional response. Definitely won’t be recommending this spot to...
Read moreSunny Side was my fiancé and my favorite place to eat for breakfast ever!!!! Egg benedict is the best however, the wait time can be very long (longest one time has been 45 mins on average is 30) and there is no place to stand while waiting. It is a very crammed entrance way and They do not take your name or anything. They do not clarify that you need to write your name down on a waiting list. Even when it is your turn (if you know to write your name down) if you are not in the door way or on the bench outside you lose your spot. They need to find a better way of having people wait. A bench outside is not an appropriate waiting area either, especially if it is raining or once the cold and snow comes. They hopefully will expand or have a way of getting groups that are eating out quicker. Also, families tend to finish eating and lounge around for a while.
In response to what the owner said about my post above (since I cannot comment directly to theirs), we are NO LONGER regulars (so they should get their heads out of their asses and read) because of their terrible customer service because the owner views customers as money and not people. They are the unfair ones because they expect people to wait on two benches outside which only accommodates for about 4-6 people (this is adding both benches together mind you). There is a tree to stand under but I wouldn't say that is accommodating, plus Mother Nature put that there, not Sunny Side. Also on extremely hot days this doesn't help, and with the winter coming this doesn't provide warmth for anyone. Also on rainy days I guess they expect people to just wait in the rain because the response the owner left to my review was "waiting a few minutes," but 40 minutes outside in the heat, rain or cold is not a few minutes.
I ask owner what are they to do when the winter comes and it is cold for the poor customers waiting on the benches for their food for the "short" (as they claim) 40 minutes? If they want to respond rudely to my review and not act professionally I can be...
Read moreWe have been here many times and always enjoy it. My husband and I had dinner the other night, and I ordered the Sea Bass with lemon caper sauce. After several bites, I detected a taste that was similar to ammonia. My husband tried it and said he tasted it too but it was likely the capers (i had never tasted anything like this before but since it was my first time having sea bass and capers, I thought it was perhaps my taste buds). I didn’t eat more than 1/2 of it but the waitress whisked it away when we were done before I had the chance to ask about the taste. I got home that night and began to feel sick. I googled the ammonia flavor in fish and learned that this is often a sign that the fish is spoiled and unsafe to eat. I called the restaurant promptly and explained the issue to the gentleman who answered the phone. I explained that I felt ill and I believed it was from the fish being spoiled. Before I could finish, he said, “Yup, someone else also brought it to our attention so we’ve already pulled it from the menu.” He then said, “Sorry about that but we are aware of the issue.” Then he said goodbye and we ended the call. I’m a business owner myself and I cannot imagine treating a customer with such blatant disregard after acknowledging that they were served spoiled food that made them sick. He didn’t offer to replace the meal at a future visit, or ask how they could rectify the issue. No “hope you give us another try” or “We will make this up to you!” NOTHING. I hate leaving negative reviews but not only did the restaurant serve spoiled food, they admitted it, and didn’t attempt to make it better. Good customer service goes a loooong way and I’m not above giving someone a second chance to make it right. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for Bottega Cucina. I’m so bummed because this used to be a favorite local...
