Dairy Queen (Treat) — Restaurant in West St. Paul

I'm very sad the Dairy Queen off of 7th St closed down because that location was much better than this one. One of the last times we went two of the girls working there were smoking cigs while cleaning the benches people were sitting on, as well as dumping a bucket of cleaning water all over one of the benches way before closing time, making it impossible to sit on. This last time we went I ordered the same blizzard I've gotten for almost a decade and there were almost none of the main ingredients in it. I debated just eating it but I figured if I'm not happy I might as well speak up. I went to front window and said "I don't want to come off mean but I am unhappy with this blizzard. There are no brownie chunks, only pulverized tiny tiny chocolate bits. Also there was only like 5 nuts." The response I got was that they made it like they were supposed to and put the recommended amount in it, while 3 wide eyed teenage girls who worked there just stared at me. Talk about awkward. Then they said if they made another one it'd be the same so what do I want? I chose another blizzard but this was beyond awkward and they should've just taken it back. Disappointing; both blizzards I received didn’t taste quite right; both bland. Neither of us wanting to finish our blizzards. One missing the caramel that was in the name (caramel fudge cheesecake), the other (med blizzard) about a 1/3 of the blizzard at the bottom was just ice cream, not mixed, no flavoring, just plain. Not to mention, we only went because we had a coupon that expires end of Feb. The staff pointed out it was for the south st paul dairy queen, which we hadn’t noticed, but upon a quick google discovered the south st paul DQ is temporarily closed; even with that information they wouldn’t honor the coupon. As someone who’s worked in food and retail I find it odd they insisted they couldn’t take it, but if thats the case higher ups in DQ need to change that policy. Three stars for service and convenience. Outside of that, I'm disappointed it's never enough ingredients in the blizzard. It's just a hint of blended flavor in the ice cream. There's no chunks of ingredients cookie or candy? Whatever the choice that I'm purchasing. When I ask for extra they overdo it and if I don't ask then they underdo it. Today I was charged almost $9 for a small New York strawberry royal blizzard, Rip off. Because I asked for extra cake in my blizzard, like I said they don't ever put enough ingredients in.
