My family and I love the food at Applebee's. Of course I don't know of any restaurant that can get it right every time, but they do fix it and make it right for you.
I want to point out that majority of the waiters/waitresses are great and friendly, but on our last visit I was afraid the waitresses face might crack if she attempted to smile or even be friendly. I think she tried to be friendly, but I couldn't exactly tell through her sour attitude. Maybe she was just having a bad day or was new. Not sure and didnt ask. If she's still there, I hope she has found her smile and positive or enthusiastic attitude.
On this particular evening we were there to celebrate my dads birthday and pointed it out to her. She didn't even take a second to wish him a happy birthday as other staff have done in the past for other celebrations. No big deal, until the rest of the evening fell into place.
As previous visits the staff was able to take care of our wants. If we didn't want something, they wouldn't add it. If we needed to supplement something for a reason (diabetic), they've taken care of it. If it was wrong, they've fixed it. This waitress wouldn't have it. It was like she didnt even listen or care. She brought stuff we didnt want. Didnt even check about supplementing 1 item, instead just said "we don't do that" even though they just recently did. So instead of making a big fuss over it, we just took it as it was. At the end of the meal we received our bill with no offer of dessert. I paid the bill and we left.
We will go back since I know we don't always get the same waiter/waitress and we love their food.
I would have given 5 stars, but it's not always perfect and I can't fault them for 1 waitress on 1 particular evening compared to all the times we've been there and had great experiences.
We'll see you...
Read moreMy friend and I have been to this location several times, it’s always been decent … but yesterday’s experience was terrible! We were seated promptly - we sat longer than expected before our waitress came to get our drink order (while waiting I was watching bartender and other employees constantly touching their hair, and I stated to my friend, how if I managed this place I would be talking to the staff about their appearance and how they cannot play with their hair while working, several of the waitresses were twisting their hair, running their hands through their hair - a no no, especially in the food industry!)…and lo and behold, my friend had a hair in her margarita. And yes, I realize this can happen anywhere … but the point is - you don’t touch your hair!! Well, that’s not all … after we gave our drink order to our waitress - it was the bartender that came over to announce that our waitress was feeling sick and talking with the manager and she would take our food order. We ordered. A few minutes passed… bartender returned and said, your waitress is feeling better now and will be returning. Well, needless to say I didn’t want my food served by a sick waitress… never mind the hair in the drink … we were done! We waited a few minutes for the waitress to return to our table to cancel the order and to inform her of the hair in the drink (we did not drink the drinks) … she didn’t arrive. We decided to leave … enough was enough! I stopped by the hostess station to inform her we’re leaving … no one there. So yes, we left without paying for the drinks (which we didn’t drink) and yes, we left without canceling our order - though we tried to inform staff. Poor management with low expectations lead to...
Read moreWe eat at Applebees in Elkins, Wv quite often and are usually pleased. Not tonight. It was a busy Saturday, so we knew service would be slow. We ordered and our drinks were brought out. Then they brought our food, but we had no silverware. Then we were brought forks but the knives were being washed. My husband ordered a steak and really couldn't eat without a knife. I had broccoli chicken Alfredo. It had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile and was very dry. The broccoli was discolored but I tried it anyway. It was awful. I honestly don't know what you could do to broccoli to make it taste like that. About that time the waitress came to ask if everything was ok. Umm, no. She asked if I wanted it made again. No. Did I want them to make it again without broccoli? No. It's kind of hard to make broccoli chicken Alfredo without broccoli. They took it off the bill. By the time my husband got his knife his sizzlin steak was cold. They took that off too. We paid for our drinks and went to Taco Bell. It was great! Do...
