Great concept. I love dim sum and this place is a great idea whose time has come. I had to wait many weeks since the official opening to get my chance to try them. So, finally I get there when they are both open and have Mushroom dumplings in stock. I got the 4 pack. I made sure they added their potsticker sauce, too.
I was looking forward to gorging on my dumplings after I took the picture you see below. The dumplings had the right color and a large shape. However, the potsticker sauce was strangely sweet of a tomato like quality. I am used to traditional sauce which is salty and gingery with a little sweet and onion and based of soy sauce. I dipped the dumpling in the sauce and took my first bite. I will be truthful here, it was not a traditional mushroom veggie dumpling. It was a little sweet and unusually gingery. The strange thing was that the flavors of the dumpling didn't seem to cohere. The pallet was hit with sweetness and ginger, but lacked an earthy element to bind the flavors together. Worst of all, the mushroom greatness was lost altogether which should have been the glory of the experience.
I think 2 things would make this work better for me. ONE, have a traditional Chinese soy sauce based potsticker sauce available as a choice. TWO, create a more mushroom, less additive dumpling option. I feel that good mushrooms don't need much hullabaloo, just something for texture and a tiny bit of balance. I will try the other dumplings as soon as I can figure out the potsticker...
Read moreFood may be nice (some time fresh and some time microwaved), but the service/attitude of Lady (Seems like a joint owner) is worst, who doesn’t know how to treat the customer. I am not buying from this place again. I ordered 8 pcs of chicken dumplings for $12.99 + $0.86 (tax) = $13.85 and asked for 2nd spicy sauce dip (Small in size, because one won’t be enough) and the lady cannot give without additional $0.50 and I mentioned that her husband (owner) was able to give me with no extra money (couple times), yet she refused and lied that it is somewhere listed in the food menu which she couldn’t prove.
I would rather choose to tip/donate even if it is 50 cents instead of paying these kind of people.
Isn’t $13 dollar already expensive enough for just 8 medium sized Dumplings? Shouldn’t they offer sufficient dip sauces with it already for the premium price? Where is the fairness here?
I am no fool to let this go with immoral and greedy practice to extract money from customer, so I had to argue with her (apparently she doesn’t care) and demanded for refund, then she gave me second spicy dip sauce and called her husband over the phone and spoke in Chinese. Obviously she is a liar, very greedy and deceptive personality. I will never go to this place again.
Folks, I am sure experiences are different for some, but you may look at other reviews about service and make your own...
Read morePlaced a pickup order for Dan Dan noodles and fluffy steamed buns. I went in to pick up within the next 10 minutes. The noodles are not the flat type shown in the Pic. Chicken was dry and they just tossed hot oil on it. Noodles were all lumped as if boiled without stirring. The buns were cold and smelled of stale dough.
Referring to culinary knowledge in their response. Anyone running a restaurant should know that the easiest trick in the book to avoid lumpy noodles is to give them a cold wash and then stir fry them in your sauce of choice. Chicken breast is dry and hence marinated overnight in brine. Maybe I can send you a video or 2 on these basics from YouTube? I think these guys need a new cook. And a new attitude when there's so many one star reviews across yelp and here!
Tip for the owner : instead of dissing and responding with excuses to your customers who are taking time to put in reviews, spend time into improving the food...
