Pros: Good location: you can walk to the Canal trail, to Whole Foods and other shops Service at reception was very friendly and responsive You can schedule housekeeping as needed. Has kitchens, but they could be better equipped (more dishes, sponge for dishwashing, better knives. Dishwasher didn't clean dishes, so we ended up washing by hand). Bed was comfortable. Relatively quiet. Overall we got a good night of sleep.
Cons: Carpet in rooms. Given the low cleaning standards (see below), I doubt they get thoroughly cleaned. It would be more hygienic and better for people with allergies to not have any carpet flooring. Carpet in the hallways is also a bad choice for a hotel: it's almost impossible to properly roll your suitcase.
Cleaning level is low. The first room we checked in had hair all over the bathroom floor. After mentioning this, we got switched to a different room that didn't have visible hair (reception desk staff was very responsive). However, the carpet looked like it wasn't throughly vacuumed, the tile floor in the kitchen area was sticky and made our socks dirty. We requested cleaning services once, but there were still crumbs and traces on the kitchen and bathroom counters afterwards.
Not at environmental standards of 2022: Wasteful mini plastic bottles for toiletries instead of large refillable ones. In 2022, I would expect a chain like Marriott to make a bigger effort to avoid unnecessary waste. During the cleaning, staff also threw out bottles that still had product in them and replaced them with new ones which was unnecessary. The staff also replaced all towels, even though we had only put a few of them on the floor. There was no card informing guests on how to save towels/ water/ electricity.
Card readers at outside and room doors often didn't work at all or took 5+ attempts to work. They should switch to modern card readers that are more reliable.
Free breakfast has no healthy or vegan options. All the cereal was sugary, no oats or grains, just some fruit. There wasn't even plant-based milk.
Windows can't be opened. Even though we were on the second floor, the windows were almost completely blocked, so we couldn't properly air out the room.
Removable shower heads would be better than the fixed ones and should be a standard for this...
Read moreFamily of 4, 2 adults, 2 small children. Booked this hotel stay with the sesame place vacation package. I would not stay at this hotel again. We got here and checked in, the outside of the hotel reeked of cigarette smoke even though there was a sign outside of the hotel that this is a non-smoking property. The front desk staff was pleasant. They checked us in and gave us the keys to our room. Once we got there, I went into the bathroom and noticed orange/pink grime by the drain in the tub from sitting water. With two little kids that need to take baths, I called the front desk and requested for them to send someone to clean the tub as it shouldn’t look like this. While waiting for house keeping to come, I used the bathroom and I noticed a bunch of hair all over the floor. Completely grossed out, I had my husband pick up the hair on the floor and wrap it in a wash cloth so we can bring it to the front desk for them to see. Walking to the front desk I saw someone from house keeping walking to our room. I didn’t want to bother her so I continued walking to the front desk to show them what we found. The front desk employee opened up the wash cloth and immediately closed it and said they would call house keeping. No apology, nothing. I go back to the room and I hear over the radio that they called the woman who was cleaning our bathtub to also clean the floor in the bathroom. She came back with a mop and cleaned the floors. Again no apology, nothing. She seemed annoyed. After she left we started unpacking and the room was very warm. I adjusted the thermostat to a lower temperature and continued to unpack. After about an hour the temperature still didn’t change so I called the front desk again and they sent someone else to check. She said that we can not stay in the room with this temperature and she will see if their mechanic is there and if not we will have to change rooms. After all said and done they ended up moving us one room over- thank god not far since we were already unpacked. I do not think I would stay here again as not one staff member apologized for any of the inconveniences that we had. Especially with how gross the...
Read moreIt saddens me to write this review but Marriott’s poor customer service has left me no choice. I did like this hotel. It’s very nice and it’s clean. I booked this hotel to recover from breast cancer surgery because I had a fire in my home. I’ve been going through treatment and been kind of busy so I neglected to make my bank transfer in a timely manner. However I didn’t know that this hotel would charge my card for the entire stay upon arrival. The manager wouldn’t even come out to speak with me so I could explain. No biggie. I paid for one night and was told that I had until 3 pm the next day to cover the rest. The next day i got a call at 12:30 and I was told the manager said i had until 1 pm to cover payment. The hotel was empty and it was a friggin blizzard so I’m not understanding the rush. I got dressed quickly and I went downstairs to cover the payment and when I returned to my room to i was locked out. These people locked out a cancer patient from their hotel room during a blizzard. Who does that? Especially more than 2 hours before the time you said i had to settle my difference. Marriott customer service has been impossible to deal with and this hotelnand Marriott’s response is like oh well should’ve had the full balance available at check in. That’s trash customer service and no way to deal with people. Where was I gonna run off to in a blizzard 1 day after surgery? To make matters worse on my last day I spilled their hot coffee on my one good boob. Now I have a second degree burn. At this point this is just too many signs that maybe Its not in my best interest to come back to Marriott at this time. I used to stay at ritz Carlton properties all the time and I recently stayed at the Residence Inn in Miami with no issue but I’m not feeling the unapologetic rudeness during one of the worse possible times in my life. Plus every time I look at this burn on my one good breast I’m reminded of how these people put me out in a blizzard. That’s cold...
