I've stayed at numerous Hyatt Place properties, but nothing compares to this stay. Upon checkin, I was assigned a room where the TV didn't work -- there were lines running through over half of the channels as if you were trying to watch scrambled naughty shows. To top it off, the AC unit in the room was LOUD. Normally, I can deal with a lot, but it was the lack of customer service that put me over the edge.
When I called down to the front desk, I was told all they could do was "move the wires." If half the channels work and the others don't, it's not the wires. After having the AC running for awhile, it still felt like a terrarium. I was hot, I was traveling with a broken leg and ankle, and the chances of getting a good night's sleep was getting slimmer and slimmer. I called down to the front desk and said it wasn't going to work and to move rooms or just to cancel my reservation -- I should have just stayed at the Hyatt Regency right up the street. I was told by the desk agent that night it would be impossible because there was no manager on duty and the hotel was sold out. The hotel was sold out and no manager on duty? Come on ...
Anyway, I left to get something to eat and when I came back in, the desk agent was sitting on one of the couches using his laptop watching a movie and totally oblivious to whatever was going on at the hotel. Listen, I don't care if you bring your personal laptop to work (we've all done it), but at least just pay attention.
The morning staff said they would move me to a different room and I'd get a call from the manager. Neither of which happened.
Do yourself a favor and just stay at the Regency...
Read moreOkay the room was nice, roomy, clean, etc. Pretty decent breakfast selection. Where I am super annoyed is this: I traveled here for a business trip, but make no mistake I'm not made of money. The hotel was supposed to be on the company account. They took my personal card to place a 25 dollar hold for incidentals...Pretty standard so I didn't question it. Next thing I know, the second night I see a hold for the price of the first night's stay. When I go to the front desk to mention this, they insist the hold is only for 25 even when I'm showing them that it's pending for the full night's stay. They are completely confused and unsure why this is happening and tell me to contact the general manager the next day. Mind you I'm here on business so I have trainings to attend. The next morning, the hold amount on my account doubled and when I called the GM, it went to voicemail. I called again during a break in training and it again went to voicemail. I ended up having to have my company call and try to straighten this out while I was in training. I can understand mistakes happening but when dealing with someone's money, it should be a top priority and I am very upset with the lack of urgency brought to this issue. The hold is still pending and it's left me in a very difficult situation because as mentioned I'm not made of money so the amount that's left not on hold has to be enough to cover the rest of my meals and gas for the rental car until it's released. I have also called the manager a third time since arriving back to the hotel and still have not even gotten to...
Read moreWe paid $240 per night in July 2023 for this hotel on our honeymoon. The first room they put us in had numerous issues including the refrigerator and television not working plus there was no microwave. After calling maintenance numerous times, the front desk clerk (who was very nice) decided to move us to another room so we could enjoy our honeymoon. The second room was just as small as the first. The bathroom only had a toilet and shower (and while it was a nice shower two people could easily fit in), the sink for the bathroom is outside the bathroom in the bedroom area. Luckily in the second room, the TV and refrigerator worked fine but still no microwave as you'd come to expect in an expensive hotel room nowadays. The room was clean and breakfast was great with eggs, french toast, sausage, cereal and oatmeal each day. The Keurig in each of the two rooms we were in were very disgusting and looked like they were never cleaned on the inside so we never used them. Air conditioning worked great and the bed was very comfortable. The ice machine on the 5th floor didn't work so we had to use the one on the 3rd floor or go down to the front desk. The pool is closed at all times unless the owner is on property.
If you're going to stay at this property, I would only suggest using Canal Pointe Boulevard entrance though since US-1 highway is VERY dangerous and confusing to navigate. There are MUCH safer ways to get in and out of this hotel that won't have you murdered by New...
