EDITED: I meant to edit this a long time ago. The Roots we know and have always loved made this right almost immediately. Sara is a wonderful person who cares about her customers and explained that she wasn't there that day and it was new staff. It was a great opportunity for some training in customer service. We have since and continue to regularly order lunch here are have been very satisfied as always before since!
Wow. Myself and my coworkers order from roots regularly because it's one place that we know we're safe from exposure to gluten. Let's just say we spend a lot of money there. Today I ran over on my lunch break and upon returning realized that they failed to include the dressing with my Greek Salad. I don't know about you but to me, the dressing is a critical ingredient. I called and asked if I could get a credit on my bosses card. I was told, "I'm sorry, we can't really do that because it's just the dressing that's missing." Ummmmm, excuse me? You want me to pay $13 for a salad without the most important ingredient? My only option was to drive all the way back there for my dressing. I work in direct patient care in the medical field. I'm on a 30 minute lunch break. I can't just pop back over. I'm shocked and disappointed- no "we'll give you a credit for another salad" or "how about a few bucks off" maybe even a complimentary pastry next time? I hate to leave a bad review because I really like it there but that was just honestly a terrible customer...
Read moreI love Roots Cafe!!! This has become my place for great food and fellowship. The moment you walk through the door, you know you are not just walking into a coffee shop, you are walking into some place special. The food and Coffee is outstanding, but beyond that, the team at Roots are welcoming and professional. They work hard to ensure that you are provided a great experience while you are there, and it all starts with a warm greeting and welcoming smile. If you want to meet a friend for coffee, and need help keeping the kids entertained and well taken care of, They have you covered with professional childcare on site to allow for some time to for you to step away and enjoy some adult interaction. The walls a lined with books and other resources that are available for you to enjoy without charge or the need to carry around that ol' library card, just enjoy it, and return it when you finished so someone else can enjoy it too.Do you love live music? Yup you guessed it, they've got that covered too. Local artist perform there every Friday and Saturday night. I have been to the music nights a couple of times and it is nothing short of amazing. I cannot say enough about Roots Cafe, and their approach to providing great, healthy food, a welcoming atmosphere, and place to connect to with friends, and maybe make some new ones along the way. Well done Roots, I...
Read moreIt’s not too often that I’ll fall in love with a place so much that I write a review before I even leave, but this spot has done that for me!
It’s a fluke that I ended up here, driving 20 minutes out of my way, because after being in downtown Portland for an appointment, I was excited to try a new place for breakfast. Upon walking a few blocks, I finally found a business whose “masks mandated” sign said it was due to the city of Portland requiring it... again. OK, looks like I’ve got to get out of the city because I don’t spend my money at businesses that push their misguided “health” ideals upon me. I did a quick search in Westbrook, and Roots was one of the first cafes to pop up. Lucky me!
Not only do they let us be free to share positive vibes by SMILING at each other, they serve only organic coffees, make their food from scratch, and all their pastries are gluten free for those who need it. It’s a nicely designed, somewhat large cafe, which seems to be associated with a church next door, but I don’t mind that, even though I’m not religious myself. They’re all about spreading love here! Even their salt and pepper shakers do!
I will gladly come out of my way again to visit Roots when coming to the...
