I live pretty far from this restaurant but once a year for a week I house sit about 15 minutes away. A solid half of the reason I take the gig is because of this restaurant. The spare ribs are possibly the best spare ribs I have eaten at a Chinese restaurant ever, and I have eaten spare ribs at many, many Chinese restaurants across the entire country. I used to do a great deal of business travel in my IT career and I would always make sure to check out the local Chinese restaurants because I really like Chinese food. I have one or two restaurants in Connecticut that I would intentionally go back to not just because they are convenient but because they are good. There is one Chinese restaurant in Cleveland I would go out of my way to return to. This restaurant here in Southwestern Rhode Island is better than any other Chinese restaurant I've been to. As I said the spare ribs are amazing. The General Tso's chicken is great - crispy on the outside and quite tender on the inside. The beef lo mein is quite nice and the pork fried rice is not your standard pork fried rice. It is, unsurprisingly, fantastic. And the portion sizes are generous. Beyond the food itself the ambience of the restaurant is lovely and if you go to the bar and have a cocktail the selection of Bourbons is better than some small bars...
Read moreWe went on Christmas day. Place was busy for take out orders. Not many people sitting in but many tables weren't cleared for us to sit down. There was about 4 waitresses for about 10 tables. Took about 10 minutes to get a table, then another 10 to even be seen or given menus. I took a take out menu and was able to order when the waitress came to the table. Food came fairly quick but was just dropped on the table. No sauses offered or no drink refills offered. The only time the waitress came over was to get our order, drop off food or drop the check off. Food was hot and okay. Portions were OK for price. Decent price. Waited about 15 minutes after our meal for the check. (there was about 3 other tables of people in the restaurant). Most of our time there was waiting. We tipped 7% on our bill for 5 people. WE WERE CHASED OUTSIDE BY OUR WAITRESS STATING WE FORGOT TO TIP!!!!! Litterally chased out front, blocked in from another waitress (she was standing behind the car) and harassed asking why we didn't tip. I usually tip the 20% recommended but the service was just so freaking terrible. Will not be going back...
Read moreI'm not sure why I have never left a review about this place, but as a person who has been served gracefully over 8 years while I lived in the area (and after I moved to Boston as well) I only have great things to say about Golden Chopsticks.
Before all the emotional part, I highly recommend the beef lo main. Their lo main is simply tasteful and delicious, never soggy and if eaten at the restaurant it is even better. From the dim sum menu I absolutely love the stuffed peppers. Highly Recommend. The salty chicken wings are also 👌. Amazing!
I got to know this restaurant when I used to live in Westerly. It's a little gem hidden in a parking lot. In 2017 I moved away from the town, but I always managed to find my way back to Golden Chopsticks to hang out with the friendly staff and enjoy their delicious menu.
Life took me into a different direction and I no longer will be able to visit them anymore, but I just want to drop this message and let you guys know how thankful I am for being able to get to know this special little place that always brought me, my family and...
