I dine out often, both personally and professionally. I know and like good food, but can eat a meal for substance alone when need be and am able to set my expectations accordingly to be fair. We keep periodically giving this restaurant a try because of friends that either like a dish (usually a salad) and want to have it or more often have been given a gift card they need to use. The cocktails are usually very good. Regarding the food, it is typically hit or miss. Occasionally someone in our party will have a dish they enjoy. It is never the whole table and I have never had the pleasure of being one of the impressed diners in our group. The food is not the worse but it is also not the best and typically not at a level to justify the higher pricing per plate. Tonight's choice was Chicken Marsala at a fair price and it was among the worst I've had. Your safest choice here is usually a salad. Regarding the atmosphere, the restaurant is very dark in the initial areas inside the front door and adequately lit in the furthest area from the front door. The table lights are very nice. The wall decor is a little bizarre in that it incorporated ventilation grates paired up with fake flowers to create decor. The service is consistent with an average family style restaurant. Nobody has any real hospitality training. It took 3 asks to receive lemon for the water. 2 asks to receive another napkin before I simple took a setting off another set table and finding someone to refill water glasses was a struggle the entire meal. They came by to ask about cocktails but forgot to come back with water. The bathrooms are kept very clean. You can spend $30-$50 per person focused on cocktails and salads or $50-$100 per person, focused on cocktails and entrees. You'll likely be most satisfied staying among the selections that keep you in the $30-50 range. I hope this helps but encourage folks to form their...
Read moreThis is the Italian restaurant to try over and over again in Westerly, RI. Definitely a hidden gem. Great authentic Italian food, clean, friendly atmosphere and the price is just right. Came here with a friend several years ago for an early dinner and finally had another opportunity to revisit this restaurant. The location is set back hidden no wonder why I couldn’t remember where it was lol hence I remember the name and town lol that’s speak for itself. Both time I didn’t have reservations and did not have to wait to be seated. As we walked in the door we were immediately greeted by a gentleman whom seated us. The server came right over to us, greeted and introduced herself and asked if we would like our drinks ordered and recited the special. We didn’t have to wait to long for our order to be served. The food was hot and delicious. I can’t remember what I ordered it was a fish dish and I am not really a fish girl but I wanted to try something strange for a change lol. I must state I was very satisfied from both experience. The only thing is the bar was loud due to the other guests talking but hey it was date night also and it’s great to see folks socializing in bliss. So, if people talking bother you ask to be seated away from the bar but don’t expect to be to far away as this restaurant is not big but big enough where you’re not hitting the person that’s sitting behind you with your chair. All in all the...
Read moreStopped by here after heading to providence, husband is a huge Italian foodie and this was a place we never spotted. The location is honestly awful, and we almost drove right out. It's located in a semi run down plaza, where there's a subway, Chinese restaurant, and a salon. When you go in you are greeted immediately but that's as far a the atmosphere goes. The restaurant is dark and depressing, there isnt any other way to describe it. We ordered 2 apps - Buffalo wings and crab cakes. The crab cakes are canned crab meat, but it was not bad. The wings were good, not crispy but I appreciate the fact they didn't taste frozen. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi pasta and I ordered the signature salad with chicken. The scampi was swimming in butter, and was bland according to my husband's taste. I don't know because I don't eat pasta lol. My salad was HUGE and I added chicken to it, which was dry, overcooked and burnt. The salad was drowning in so much salad dressing I couldn't finish it. We ordered dessert which basically saved the meal.
For the quality of food the bill was high, and not worth it. I know that people rave about it but we are big foodies and will never eat hear again. If this is their idea of Italian food, all i can say is wow. Now it makes sense why they have Chinese inspired food choices too, it's actually confused place. I gave it 3 stars because the waitress was awesome....
