This restaurant used to be called 55 Beach Street before the current owners bought it 2 years ago, closed it to clean and renovate and reopened with a new name, The Eatery, and an enhanced menu. It is a typical yet comfortable breakfast and lunch type restaurant. Most of our meals here have been breakfast every Sunday morning with boat club friends. Occasionally, when down on vacation and boating, we add a couple more breakfasts. We have also been there for lunch, but only a couple times. To be transparent, the owners, Shannon and Brian, are friends of ours. Nevertheless, this review is fair and honest. If you knew me, you would know that I wouldn't eat marginal food, even to support dear friends. On the food alone, it would be and is our favorite breakfast stop. They have the best Irish Eggs Benedict with skillet fried home fries, which incorporates a hollandaise sauce that I love. I love the hollandaise so much, that I get a little extra to put on the home fries. I have had various omelettes, as well. Getting a table is pretty doable before 7:30am. After that, the wait is respectable because service is fast and tables turn over at a...
Read moreIf I could give infinity stars I would!! The service I received before I even walked in the door was impeccable!! Bryan, the owner is an absolute gem!! He greeted me with a friendly smile and had the door open for me to come in. We chatted for a bit and I can't say enough good things about him. This was my first time coming since it became The Eatery. I have always enjoyed fish and chips Fridays when it was Beach st Cafe. I didn't realize the tradition was continuing, I was ecstatic when I called and asked about it and they informed me that they still do it. Ok, now for the food review, I could of went on and on about the owner. The fish and chips were just as delicious as before, the only thing I believe changed are the fries, they aren't the seasoned ones from before but that's ok the fish alone is worth it and the chowder is absolutely delectable. Steve is missed, he was a wonderful guy. Bryan is top notch, I will definitely be returning! Thanks Bryan for the wonderful customer service and...
Read moreVisited Westerly for a three day getaway and found the Eatery our first morning. Parking is easy, food is awesome, prices are amazing BUT the staff is the treasure. From the moment you walk in you know it's going to be just like home .. only better! Nothing but smiles and eye contact. If there's a wait everyone keeps in touch to let you know how much longer it should be, would you like coffee, have a seat.. Everything is quick and efficient but you never feel rushed. And everyone does everything from refilling your coffee to bussing an empty table. We went there every day of our stay to try all the different dishes and will definitely be back when we visit Westerly again. Shannon and her crew are doing an awesome job. It's just too bad that it's two and a half hours from...
