I hate to give a bad review as the food was delicious, but the carry out experience was terrible. We've been trying to support all of our local businesses by ordering carryout during the pandemic as we are definitely not comfortable dining in at restaurants. Honestly surprised anyone is. When I got to the host station, I expected to pay there and receive my order there, but was told to go to the bar to check out. The bar was full of patrons drinking and not wearing masks. It made me incredibly uncomfortable, becoming increasingly uncomfortable the longer it took. The bartender took my payment and then told me a server just went to the kitchen and would be bringing my food right out. Several minutes went by. Then a server passed by me having come from the front of the restaurant somehow and was carrying a large tray of dishes and plates, as well as having a carryout bag. She then went all the way to the back of the bar and set the carryout bag under the heat lamps and headed over back into the main dining area to begin giving out the food on her tray. I was bothered that she hadn't just dropped what was obviously my carryout order with me while she was passing me as I was wearing a coat and mask, clearly NOT just hanging out and drinking like all the other patrons. The bartender was just standing there idle, wiping down things. I could see the waitress unloading her tray and I tried to remain calm to let her finish, but then once she had her tray empty the unmasked people she was serving stopped her to chat or ask questions. At that point I walked back to the end of the bar, caught the bartender's eye and pointed to the carryout order and asked, "Is that my order? Can I just grab that and go?" She made a fuss saying I had to wait for the server. I became more insistent and said I needed to go now. She then asked me again what my name was, which she had already done to find my order and have me pay for it. Finally the server came over and confirmed that it was indeed my order and gave it to me. I spent entirely too long inside a building with entirely too many people not wearing masks. I will not be ordering from them again until well after vaccines have been distributed. Having to go further into the building to the bar for the carryout was unpleasant and made me quite uncomfortable. I realize things are awkward in general, but they seem to not be taking safety seriously enough and are unorganized about how they handle things. If they offer a curbside service I'd recommend that to anyone taking safety seriously, but I would definitely not recommend doing carryout with them as it was an...

My boyfriend and I came to eat here on 09/17 for a date night. We came because we had a wonderful experience at the Worthington location and wanted to see this one. When we came in we requested a booth, but said it’s okay if none are avaliable. The host said “let me clean one for you,” came back, slapped two menus on the table behind the host stand and said “you are going to sit here” and walked away, said nothing else.
Our server, Hannah, greeted us promptly and took our order. We ordered one appetizer and 2 entrees. It took 40+ minutes for the food to come out. Our entrees came out first. The server apologized and asked if we still wanted the appetizer. I said sure. All of my food was cold. My boyfriends food was barely warm. However, we did not complain about this. Our server was very kind, awesome, and you could tell she was working very hard and trying her best. We didn’t want to stress her out or be annoying. The appetizer came as we were taking our last bites of our entrees. Our server was awesome and comped the appetizer (we didn’t request this) but we’re thankful. Hannah was amazing and helpful.
My biggest issue was the host. She was so rude. Not only to me but multiple other people who had came in. My partner and I overheard other tables talking about it as well. She barely, if at all, welcomed people. She looked so angry the entire time and like it was the last place she wanted to be. A few times when someone came and asked for help she rolled her eyes and walked away annoyed and mad. 90% of the time she was at the host stand she was playing on her cell phone.
I would not recommend this location. My boyfriend and I will not be returning, we will go to the Worthington...
Read moreThe Old Bag of Nails in Westerville is a must go. The restaurant is located in Westerville where there are tons of shops and old buildings on the street. The restaurant itself is located in an old building, with possibly original floors and ceilings. Our servers are always nice and they were patient with my wife while she sampled some of the seasonal brew options.
It is a beautiful old building both on the outside and interior. Very well maintained, good sanitation practices and overall a great establishment. All I have to say is come hungry though because when you get Fish and Chips they give you two big battered delicious filets.
I tried the Eddie Style battering for the first time. It has a kick to it but dip it in the beer cheese, ranch and buffalo sauce combination and it is a great fish for dipping. I also recommend the pickle spears they do come in six but only pictured four because well they are so hard to not eat at first.
I am not much of a pickle person, but I do like fried pickles though. What I like about the pickle spears is that they are not too vinegary, bitter, salty, slimey or too sweet. The batter makes the pickle just right and I recommend the beer cheese to dip them in.
My wife did try their seasonal apple cinnamon beer non IPA brew. It was good and reminded her of an apple cider with a hint of spice from the cinnamon at the end.
I hope you can visit it soon and while you are there check out the small businesses on the street. My recommendation is Shirley's if you want to feel nostalgic and get gourmet fresh popped...
