Extremely unfortunate where Penn Station has ended up the past few years. Hands down, Penn Station used to be my absolute favorite sub shop and I’d frequently grab lunch here 2+ times a week when I worked in the area. However, over the last 1-2 years, this specific location and name brand in general has been going downhill. The menu has been minimized so much that I really don’t even see the point eating here anymore. I just stopped in on 3-13-23 to place an order and it was abysmal. The meat wasn’t grilled that much, the bread wasn’t toasted and was just slightly warmed, the fries were soggy and no salt at all, and the service was extremely bad. The young kids working the grill and the register weren’t friendly and had overall bad attitudes. I only ordered a small sub and a regular fry, and I waited 37 minutes and was the only customer there. That’s ridiculous. Watching employees play on their phones and text while I’m standing there waiting, isn’t acceptable. Penn Station used to be sort of a Gold Standard for me and almost impossible to beat. Now though, I will never spend my money here again and will go to one of the many, many other sandwich shops that have quality items and far more respectable employees. It was good...
Read moreWasnt greeted when i walked in. I went to order and had to wait for her to stop laughing. Sandwich was ok, would have been better if it didnt fall apart after the first bite. I ate in and my visit only got more awkward. A group of kids came in and all 3 employees on the clock are sitting, lounging in the dining area, argued over who was going to deal with the kids. Kids are waiting at the counter and the "loser" employee walked over to help while loudly telling her coworkers "you guys are making me get up so you dont have to talk to these kids". After she took care of their order with an annoyed look the whole time, she came back to sit down and as the kids were gathering napkins she asked them to "tell their friends to keep their grubby hands off the windows unless they want to come back and clean them" she may have known them and it may have been a joke, but I wasnt aware of it and it was extremly awkward to sit here and listen to this all happen. There's sweeping that could happen, I'm sure a counter to be wipped. If you pay empolyee to sit in dining room, play on phones and gossip....how do I apply because my current boss makes me work...
Read moreUsed to love Penns cheesesteaks and great fresh cut fries. Yesterday was 2nd disappointment in last 6 months. Previous order had "reheated fries in brownish color ....too thin and crispy. There was very little meat on cheesesteak. I went back yesterday hoping for better experience like in pre pandemic visits . I called ahead to ensure fries would be fresh and not reheated nor crispy . Sadly...not ever going there again... same sad order as last time. 12 inch cheesesteak and medium fresh cut fries....hardly any meat on sandwich and tasteless...."fresh cut" fries were...again...old looking, brown and crispy. Order cost more this time too... I know pandemic is affecting many prices. But....the food quality was nowhere near value of its cost...16.00. McDonalds frozen fries are better....looking...
